NORMAN Following a road victory at No. 10 Georgia last weekend, two members of the No. 1 Oklahoma women's gymnastics squad secured Big 12 weekly honors, the conference announced Tuesday. Sophomore Natalie Brown earned her second Event Specialist of the Week accolade of the season, and freshman Nicole Lehrmann was named the Newcomer of the Week for the fourth straight time.

Both Brown and Lehrmann matched their career highs on beam in the Georgia meet, aiding the Sooners to a season-high 49.500 on the apparatus and a 197.375-196.750 victory.

Brown's career-high-tying 9.925 on beam was good for a second-place finish on the event. The performance marked the second time she has received the score and her third straight mark of at least a 9.9 this season. The Dallas, Texas, native also tallied a team-high 9.85 on floor in the meet. She is ranked sixth nationally on beam with a regional qualifying score (RQS) of 9.885.

On bars, Lehrmann contributed a 9.9, the fourth time this season she has scored at least that total. In the No. 2 spot on beam, Lehrmann continued OU's strong start on the event by tallying a career-high-matching 9.875, the fifth time she has posted the score in her freshman campaign. Lehrmann is currently ranked 10th nationally on bars (9.885 RQS) and in a tie for 13th on beam (9.870 RQS).

This season, the Sooners have earned a total of 15 weekly conference accolades. The honor is the fourth straight for Lehrmann and the second of the year for Brown. OU has now won at least one Big 12 award and has secured the specialist recognition each week this season.

Joining the OU pair this week was Iowa State sophomore Haylee Young, who was named the Big 12 Gymnast of the Week.

The Sooners (17-1 overall) return to Norman for a top-five showdown when they host No. 4 Michigan at 6:45 p.m. CT on Friday inside Lloyd Noble Center. Tickets are available for purchase online or by calling the OU Athletics Tickets Office at (405) 325-2424 or toll-free at (800) 456-GoOU.
