NORMAN, Okla. – The No. 53 Oklahoma women's tennis team turned in a dominant performance with a 4-0 sweep over Iowa in Norman on Sunday.

The Sooners (4-4) won the doubles point with victories at the No. 1 and No. 2 positions. Oklahoma's sophomore tandem of Lily Miyazaki and Simran Sethi struck first with a 6-2 win over Iowa's (6-2) Annete Dohanics and Zoe Douglas. At the No. 3 line, Iowa took the match as Natalie Looney and Aimee Tarun beat OU's Zita Engbroks and Christiana Brigante, 6-2.

The doubles point came down to senior Emma Devine and junior Mimi Fotopoulos at the No. 2 position. The Sooner duo went down quickly, but battled back to defeat the Hawkeyes' Anastasia Reimchen and Kristen Thoms, 6-3.

"Today is our first day back at full health and we did change up our doubles teams a little, but we're still not all getting on the same page" OU head coach David Mullins said. "We had two doubles teams do a great job and one not do such a great job. Until we're firing at all three spots, then it's going to be a difficult season for us."

Malene Stripp put the first singles point on the board for Oklahoma. The sophomore dominated on court six, beating Iowa's Aimee Tarun, 6-1, 6-2. Miyazaki gave the Sooners a 3-0 lead with a straight-set victory over the Hawkeyes' Anastasia Reimchen, 7-6 (2), 6-0.

"It was great. We talked a lot yesterday about finding ways to win matches or be more competitive when we're not playing well," Mullins said. "It was good to see Lily. I'm sure she wasn't thrilled with her first set, but she settled down and won the second set comfortably. Same with Emma, she didn't start as well as she would've liked. They dug down deep and they won those tiebreakers. We were 3-0 in tiebreaks today and they can get away pretty quickly. We showed some resilience there.".

The clinching point came on court two where senior Emma Devine took down the Hawkeyes' Dohanics. After exchanging games in the first set, Devine ran away with the match. She trumped Dohanics, 7-5, 6-2, to stay unbeaten in dual-match play this season.

"It's good to be back at full health. This is the team that we are. We can't make excuses for the last few weeks, but I know we're capable of performances like this if we have everybody there," Mullins said. "But there's going to be times the rest of the season where we can't rely on everybody to be healthy every single day, so we have to do a better job when that rolls around again. We have some really tought challenges the next couple weeks, but I think we know what we need to get better at."

The Sooners are back in action next Sunday as they take on the UMKC at the Kansas City Raquet Club.
