NORMAN — For the second consecutive week, the Oklahoma women's gymnastics team holds the No. 1 spot in the national rankings. The Sooners tallied a 197.675 in a first-place finish at the four-team Perfect 10 Challenge to increase their scoring average to 197.428.
The next three spots remained the same, with Florida ranked No. 2 with an average of 197.258, Michigan at No. 3 with a 196.993 and Alabama at No. 4 with a 196.959. Utah moved into the No. 5 ranking with a 196.729.
As a team, OU is ranked in the top three nationally on every event, including a trio of No. 1 rankings after it rose into the top spot on vault this week with an average of 49.353. The Sooners remained at No. 1 on both bars (49.413) and beam (49.306) and at No. 3 on floor (49.356).
Additionally, six Sooners are ranked in the top 25 on at least one event or in the all-around. After making her career debut in the all-around last weekend, sophomore AJ Jackson is third in the country with a 39.500. Junior Chayse Capps, who won her third straight all-around title on Friday with a score of 39.625, is ranked No. 7 with an average of 39.466. Senior Keeley Kmieciak holds 11th in the all-around with a 39.409.
For the sixth straight week, junior McKenzie Wofford checks in at No. 1 nationally on bars, averaging a 9.925. Also ranked No. 1 is Capps on beam (9.916), who holds the spot for the second consecutive week.
Four Sooners are ranked in the top 25 on vault, the most on any event for OU. Jackson jumped into the No. 5 spot with an average of 9.897, senior Haley Scaman checks in at No. 9 (9.887), Capps is tied for 19th (9.863) and junior Charity Jones shares 25th (9.850).
In addition to Wofford on bars, Kmieciak is ranked No. 11 with an average of 9.881, and Capps is tied for No. 18 with a 9.859. Kmieciak is also ranked on beam, coming in at No. 17 (9.847). Scaman holds the No. 7 ranking on floor, averaging a 9.916, and Jackson is ranked 18th this week with a 9.897.
The Sooners (16-1 overall, 3-0 Big 12) head to Athens, Ga., to take on No. 10 Georgia on Saturday. The meet will stream on SEC Network+ and is slated for a 3 p.m. CT start.
