Sooners' Intrasquad Scrimmage Set for Saturday

NORMAN -- The University of Oklahoma men's gymnastics team will hold its annual Crimson and Cream intrasquad scrimmage at 1 p.m. CT on Saturday at the Sam Viersen Gymnastics Center. Admission is free.

Members of the 2016-17 Sooners will compete against each other on all six events, giving OU fans a sneak peek of new routines that the preseason No. 1-ranked squad will use as it seeks to defend its 2015 and 2016 national titles by winning the program's third straight NCAA championship and its 11th overall in 2017.

Oklahoma returns a pair of national champions from last season in senior Colin Van Wicklen and sophomore Yul Moldauer. Van Wicklen won the floor title a year ago while Moldauer became just the second freshman in NCAA history to win the all-around competition.

OU also gets back five All-Americans from last season in sophomore Levi Anderson (HB), senior Allan Bower (PH, PB, AA), junior Hunter Justus (SR), Moldauer (FX, PB, AA) and Van Wicklen (FX, VT, HB). The Sooners will also have 2015 All-Americans on vault Todd Dowdy and Josh Yee. 

Pizza will be available for the first 100 fans to arrive and immediately following the scrimmage, fans can meet the student-athletes, who will also be available for autographs.

Oklahoma kicks off its 2017 campaign with its annual trip to Colorado Springs for the 2017 Rocky Mountain Open on Jan. 14 to compete against Air Force and Nebraska. The Sooners' home opener is set for Saturday, Jan. 28 against Michigan.
