WEDNESDAY'S GAME BASICS

For the second straight season, Oklahoma will host Little Rock at Lloyd Noble Center for a non-conference matchup. Wednesday's game is set to tip-off at 7 p.m. CT. The Sooners opened the 2016-17 season with an 80-48 victory over Southern Illinois on Sunday. Little Rock enters the contest with a 1-1 record this season. The Trojans opened their season with a 55-44 win versus North Texas Friday, before falling to Green Bay on the road, 57-31, on Sunday.

Wednesday's game will air on SoonerSports.TV with Bob Carpenter, Brenda VanLengen and Jessica Coody announcing. The contest will air on the Sooner Radio Network with Brian Brinkley calling the action. Fans can also watch Wednesday's game on their Apple TV/Roku through the new Sooner Sports TV channel

Tickets are available for $8 and $15 at the OU Athletics Ticket Office (800-456-4668) and online here. Lloyd Noble Center's north and east ticket windows will open at 5:30 p.m. CT on Wednesday. OU students will be admitted free with a valid school I.D.


FIVE THINGS TO KNOW

• No. 16/17 Oklahoma has won its last four non-conference matchups at Lloyd Noble Center dating back to last season, outscoring its opponents by a 73-47 margin. The Sooners have won 22 out of their last 26 games on their home floor dating back to the beginning of the 2014-15 season.

• The Sooners opened the season with an 80-48 victory over Southern Illinois on Sunday at Lloyd Noble Center. Vionise Pierre-Louis put together an efficient performance scoring 18 points on 6-of-8 shooting. Gioya Carter pulled down a team-high eight boards and finished with 16 points.

• In Sunday's win, OU held the Salukis to just two points (fewest points allowed in a quarter by OU in program history) and did not allow Southern Illinois to make a field goal in the third quarter (0-for-10 from the field). OU used a 23-2 run to begin the second half to pull away for the win.

• The Sooners entered the season ranked in both the Associated Press and USA Today Coaches Poll. OU remains at No. 16 in the latest Associated Press Poll. The Sooners have been ranked in the AP Poll for 21 consecutive weeks (13th-longest active streak in the country). OU jumped up one spot to No. 17 in this week's USA Today Coaches Poll.

• Oklahoma finished the 2015-16 season with a 22-11 overall record (11-7 Big 12; tied for fourth) and advanced to the NCAA Tournament (No. 6 seed/second round) for the 17th consecutive year. The Sooners return four starters and 82 percent of their scoring from last year's team including 2016 Big 12 Sixth Man of the Year Vionise Pierre-Louis. Pierre-Louis and redshirt senior guard Peyton Little were recognized by the league's coaches as Preseason All-Big 12 honorable mention selections to begin the year. 

GAME ONE RECAP: SOUTHERN ILLINOIS

• Oklahoma won its season-opener on Sunday, 80-48, over Southern Illinois at Lloyd Noble Center. The Sooners held the Salukis to just 16 second-half points to pull away for the win.

• Junior center Vionise Pierre-Louis posted a game-high 18 points on an efficient 6-of-8 from the field and a perfect 6-for-6 at the free throw line. The junior added in six rebounds, while senior guard Gioya Carter tallied 16 points and a game-high eight rebounds.

• OU used a 23-2 run in the third quarter to seal its first win of the season. The Sooners held the Salukis to just two points and without a made field goal in the third quarter. The two points allowed were the fewest given up by OU since the NCAA approved the quarter season before the 2015-16 season.


PREVIEWING LITTLE ROCK

• Sun Belt member Little Rock enters Wednesday's contest with a 1-1 record after falling 57-31 on the road at Green Bay Sunday. The Trojans are averaging 43.0 points per game and are shooting .293 from the field, .217 from beyond the arc and .692 at the free throw line. Little Rock has made eight postseason appearances in the last nine seasons, including four berths in the NCAA Tournament

• The Trojans are led in scoring by junior guard Monique Townson, who is averaging 12.5 points per game to go along with three assists per contest this season. Senior guard Sharde' Collins also averages 10.0 points per game for the Trojans.

• Little Rock is led by head coach Joe Foley, who is a three-time Sun Belt Coach of the Year. He has led the Trojans to Sun Belt tournament titles in 2011, 2012 and 2015. Foley holds a career record of 721-326 (.762) and has a 265-145 mark in his 14 seasons at Little Rock.


OU-LITTLE ROCK SERIES HISTORY

• Oklahoma is 5-1 all-time against Little Rock with two of the six meetings coming over the last two seasons.

• OU is 4-0 all-time against the Trojans in Norman. Last season, OU defeated the Trojans. 65-52, behind 21 points from forward Kaylon Williams. Peyton Little added in 11 points, while Gabbi Ortiz scored 10 as OU posted a .472 shooting percentage in the victory.

• The Trojans' lone win in the series came in 2014 as OU fell 66-62 in Little Rock.

QUICK HITS

• The Sooners are 23-7 all-time against current members of the Sun Belt Conference.

• Oklahoma has won four consecutive games at home dating back to last season. The Sooners were 3-1 in road games versus non-conference foes last year, including a 71-68 win at 2016 Final Four participant Washington on Dec. 6, 2015.

• The Sooners have won 18 consecutive games when holding the edge in rebounds and turnovers forced. OU has also won 72 straight games when holding its opponent to under 50 points.

• OU is 24-4 on its home court over the last two seasons and 9-1 against non-conference opponents since the start of the 2014-15 season.

• OU reached the 20-win plateau for the 10th time in the last 11 seasons under head coach Sherri Coale a year ago. The Sooners have won at least 20 games 14 times in Coale's 20 years at Oklahoma.

• Oklahoma's non-conference schedule includes matchups against four NCAA Tournament teams from last season (BYU, Colorado State, Kentucky and South Dakota State). The Sooners will play nine of their 14 non-conference matchups at Lloyd Noble Center. OU's first six opponents each won at least 20 games a year ago.

• Oklahoma's non-conference slate along with its 18-game Big 12 schedule will allow the Sooners to play nine teams that were ranked inside the top 50 of the RPI to finish the 2015-16 season.

• Oklahoma's 205 made 3-pointers last season were the fourth-most by the Sooners in a single season in school history. It marked the eighth season under Coale that the Sooners recorded at least 200 triples in a one year. Over the last six years, only Iowa State (1,455) has made more shots from beyond the arc than Oklahoma (1,377).

•  Over the last 10 seasons, the Sooners rank second in the Big 12 in overall wins (212) and conference victories (144). OU is the only team in the Big 12 to make every NCAA Tournament since 2000.

UP NEXT

OU travels to Provo, Utah, for its first non-conference road game of the season as the Sooners take on BYU Saturday at 5 p.m. CT. Last season, the Sooners used a quick start to defeat the Cougars, 73-47, at Lloyd Noble Center on Nov. 19. Peyton Little poured in 21 points, while Maddie Manning recorded 15 points, seven rebounds and five assists.
