TULSA, Okla. -- The ITA All-American Championships came to an end Friday for the Oklahoma men's tennis team, as the Sooners suffered two defeats in the consolation draw in Tulsa, Okla.

After falling in the first round of the main draw of singles Thursday, senior Alex Ghilea was defeated by Ryotaro Matsumara of Kentucky in the consolation bracket on Friday morning, 4-6, 4-6.

As a freshman last year, Matsumara was named the SEC's Co-Freshman of the Year. He also qualified for the NCAA Singles Tournament after an 18-8 record in singles dual play.

Ghilea's day was not over, as he was back on the courts at 3:00 p.m. CT with teammate Spencer Papa for doubles play in the consolation draw.

Ghilea and Papa, who went 9-5 together in doubles dual play last year, fell to Rice's duo of Tommy Bennett and David Warren, 4-6, 5-7.

Bennett and Warren both earned All C-USA honors in singles and doubles in 2016. Bennett also earned All-Conference honors in singles in 2014, and Warren was a member of the 2015 All C-USA Singles Team as well.

The Sooners also sent senior Florin Bragusi and redshirt sophomore John Milstead to the Michael D. Case Tennis Center for the All-American Championships.

Bragusi's tournament came to an end in the qualifying round of singles on Tuesday, falling to Alex Cozbinov of UNLV to finish 2-1 in singles. Milstead lost in pre-qualifying singles on Saturday to Carsten Fisher of Dayton, but he did earn a win in the consolation bracket against Charles Parry of Wake Forest.

Milstead and Bragusi lost in qualifying doubles action to Andre Goransson and Billy Griffith of Cal, 4-6, 6-4, 0-1 (3) on Monday.
