AMES, Iowa – No. 21 Oklahoma women's basketball rallied from a halftime deficit for the second straight game to knock off Iowa State, 77-71, on Saturday at Hilton Coliseum.
Peyton Little, Maddie Manning and Gabbi Ortiz led the Sooners (15-5, 6-3 Big 12) with 13 points apiece as five Sooners scored in doubles figures in the victory.
Down 35-27 at intermission, Little led OU by scoring 11 of her 13 points in the third quarter as the Sooners outscored Iowa State, 26-13, in the frame. OU locked down the Cyclones in the second half, holding Iowa State (11-9, 3-6 Big 12) to a .286 shooting percentage and a .143 mark from 3-point range.
Iowa State cut the OU lead down to 66-63 late in the fourth quarter, but a bucket from Kaylon Williams and a lay-in from Manning in traffic gave the Sooners a seven-point advantage with 1:47 to play.
Little scored all of her points in the second half for the second game in a row, finishing 5-of-10 from the field and hitting three 3-pointers. Manning chipped in six rebounds, four steals and four assists off the bench. Ortiz led the Sooners with eight boards and added in three steals.
Williams scored in doubles figures for the 19th time this season as the redshirt senior finished with 12 points. Gioya Carter added in 10 points on 5-of-9 shooting and pulled down six rebounds against the Cyclones.
The Sooners finished the game with a .450 shooting percentage (27-of-60) from the field and outscored the Cyclones, 36-24, in the paint. OU moved to a 13-0 this season when outrebounding its opponent as the Sooners finished with a 42-38 advantage on the glass. Iowa State shot .344 from the field and .200 from behind the arc against the Sooners.
T'ona Edwards recorded a game-high seven assists, while Vionise Pierre-Louis collected three of OU's six blocks.
Iowa State's Seanna Johnson led all scorers with 18 points and finished with 12 rebounds for her 13th double-double of the year. Jadda Buckley added in 16 points and six assists for the Cyclones.
Saturday's win over Iowa State marked the fourth win by Oklahoma at Hilton Colsieum against the Cyclones in the Big 12 era.
