SUNDAY'S GAME BASICS

No. 18/19 Oklahoma (10-2, 1-0 Big 12) travels to No. 4/4 Baylor (13-1, 0-1 Big 12) for its first Big 12 road contest of the season on Sunday at 3:30 p.m. CT in Waco, Texas. The Sooners, who are 3-0 in true road games this season, opened their Big 12 slate with a 67-44 victory over Kansas on Wednesday in which they held the Jayhawks to a .316 field goal percentage. Baylor heads into Sunday's game after dropping its Big 12 opener on the road at Oklahoma State, 52-45.

Sunday's game will air nationally on Fox Sports 1 with Ron Thulin and Brenda VanLengen announcing. The contest will also air on the Sooner Radio Network with Brian Brinkley calling the action.


FIVE THINGS TO KNOW

• Oklahoma owns a 26-20 advantage against Baylor and is 10-10 against the Lady Bears in Waco. Baylor had won nine straight games in the series prior to OU's 68-64 victory last season at Lloyd Noble Center in Norman. The Lady Bears won the first meeting between the two teams last season, 89-66, in Waco. 

• Oklahoma and Baylor rank in the top three of the Big 12 in scoring defense. Baylor leads the Big 12 (ranks 11th nationally) by holding its opponents to 50.9 points per game this season. OU ranks third in the conference (34th nationally) allowing just 54.9 points per game. The Sooners have allowed just one opponent to score more than 70 points in a game this season.

Derica Wyatt

Junior Derica Wyatt knocked down four  3-pointers and finished with 14 points in OU's victory over Kansas Wednesday night. 

Kaylon Williams turned in her 12th double-figure scoring performance of the season with 21 points, while Derica Wyatt knocked down four 3-pointers and finished with 14 points as the Sooners rolled past Kansas, 67-44, to win its conference opener. The victory marked the 11th straight win for OU in a Big 12 opener. The Sooners are now 18-2 when beginning their conference slate under Sherri Coale.

• OU is 3-0 this season in true road games, averaging 73.2 points per game and outshooting its opponents .404 to .362. The Sooners starting five is shooting .423 from the field in road games this season. The tandem of Kaylon Williams (20 of 31, .645) and Maddie Manning (13 of 23, .565) are a combined 33 of 54 (.611) from the field on the road.

• Nine OU players are averaging double-figure minutes for the Sooners through 12 games. Gabbi Ortiz (27.4), Maddie Manning (28.5) and Peyton Little (31.3) are averaging 25-plus minutes per contest. Little's 31.3 minutes per game is the fifth-best average in the conference heading into Sunday's game


GAME 12 RECAP: KANSAS

Kaylon Williams recorded a game-high 21 points and nine rebounds as No. 18 Oklahoma won its 11th straight Big 12 opener with a 67-44 victory over Kansas on Wednesday at Lloyd Noble Center.

• Williams, who was just one rebound shy of her fourth consecutive double-double, finished the night 9 of 13 from the floor to pick up her third 20-point scoring game of the season. The redshirt senior forward has scored in double figures in all 12 games.

Derica Wyatt poured in 14 points for the Sooners (10-2, 1-0 Big 12), knocking down 4 of 7 from the 3-point line. Wyatt's four triples tied a season-high and the junior finished the night 5 of 9 from the floor. Peyton Little and Gabbi Ortiz chipped in seven points for Oklahoma.

• The Sooners' defense stifled Kansas early in the first quarter, holding the Jayhawks to just six points in the opening frame as OU jumped out to an early 16-6 advantage. The six points by Kansas in the first quarter were the fewest by an OU opponent this season. OU closed the game by outscoring Kansas, 36-23, in the second half.


PREVIEWING BAYLOR

• Baylor heads into Sunday's game after falling in its Big 12 opener to Oklahoma State, 52-45, on Wednesday night in Stillwater. The Lady Bears, who are ranked No. 4 in the AP and USA Today Coaches Poll, are 13-1 this season and hold an 83-6 in Big 12 games over the last six seasons.

• Preseason Big 12 Player of the Year Nina Davis leads the Lady Bears with 17.9 points per game and averages 5.7 rebounds per game. Davis has scored in double figures in each game this season and 80 times during her career at Baylor. The junior is sixth in the NCAA with a .625 shooting percentage and is 11th with 100 made field goals.

• Alexis Jones is second on the squad with 13.9 points per game, while four other Lady Bears average 8.0 or more points per contest. Senior guard Niya Johnson, who did not play at Oklahoma State Wednesday night, leads the country with 137 assists/10.5 per game.

• The Lady Bears rank 11th in the nation in scoring defense (50.9 ppg) and are holding opponents to a .319 shooting percentage, the sixth-best average in the NCAA this season. Baylor leads the nation with 24.6 assists per game, ranks fourth in assist-turnover ratio at 1.65 and is 13th in scoring offense with 82.1 points per game.

Peyton Little

The Sooners topped then third-ranked Baylor at Lloyd Noble Center last season with a 68-64 win in the last meeting between the two teams. 

• Oklahoma leads the all-time series, 26-20, against Baylor. Both teams split last year's meetings. Baylor won the first matchup in Waco, topping the Sooners, 89-66, on Feb. 11. The Sooners picked up a 68-64 win over the Lady Bears in Norman on Feb. 25 behind 15 points apiece from Sharane Campbell-Olds and Kaylon Williams.

• The win by the Sooners snapped a nine-game losing skid to Baylor and marked OU's second victory over a top-5 opponent last season.

• OU head coach Sherri Coale is 22-20 against the Lady Bears and 10-10 versus Baylor in Waco. The Lady Bears have won the last six meetings at the Ferrell Center with the Sooners last win (56-51) coming on Jan. 28, 2009. Coale is 18-16 against Baylor head coach Kim Mulkey.


AMONG THE ELITE

Kaylon Williams is one of just four players in the Big 12 to rank in the top 10 in scoring, rebounding and field goal percentage this season. Only Baylor's Nina Davis, Kansas State's Breanna Lewis and Oklahoma State's Kaylee Jensen have accomplished that feat.

• The redshirt senior is third in the league in rebounding (9.3 rpg), eighth in scoring (14.7) and 10th in field goal percentage (.581).

• Williams is looking to etch her name in the OU record books. She already ranks seventh in school history with 280 offensive rebounds, just 27 shy of passing Caton Hill for sixth place. Williams needs just 62 points to become the 21st 1,000-point scorer in program history.

• Last season, Williams ranked fourth in the nation with a .596 field goal percentage.


LIMITING SECOND CHANCES

• The Sooners continue to be one of the Big 12's top defensive rebounding teams. OU ranks second in the league with a .746 defensive rebounding percentage and averages 30.0 defensive rebounds per game. Kaylon Williams is fourth in the Big 12 with 6.0 defensive rebounds per game.

• OU is limiting opponents to 7.8 second chance points per game. The Sooners have also held foes to 10 second chance points or less five times this season.


QUICK HITTERS

Gioya Carter made her first appearance of the 2015-16 season on Wednesday vs. Kansas and scored on her first shot attempt of the year. The junior finished with two points, two rebounds and one assist in 15 minutes of action. Carter averaged 9.9 points per game last year for the Sooners along with averaging 12.0 points per game against Big 12 foes.

Derica Wyatt's four 3-pointers against Kansas were tied for the most by any player in the Big 12 during the opening night of conference play. Wyatt is shooting .353 from 3-point range this season, scoring in doubles figures three times in the last four games. The junior knocked down all four treys in the first half against the Jayhawks.

Gabbi Ortiz's six 3-pointers in OU's win over UTSA on Dec. 13 were just one shy of tying the Lloyd Noble Center record. Margaret McKeon and Morgan Hook hold the record with seven triples in a single game.

• Oklahoma is 60th in the NCAA with 198 assists and has recorded 20 or more assists three times this season. The Sooners' 16.5 assists per game rank 43rd in the nation heading into Sunday's game at Baylor.

• The Sooners have outscored their opponents by 6.5 points per game off turnovers on the year (18.3-11.8).

• OU is 9-0 this season when outrebounding its opponent. The Sooners have dominated the boards over the last five games with a +7.8 margin on the glass. OU has held 11 of their 12 opponents to sub-45 percent field goal shooting (eight times in the last nine games). The Sooners have limited 10 of its 12 foes to sub 33-percent 3-point shooting.

• Oklahoma is 0-1 this season against top-25 opponents (lost 74-68 vs. Texas A&M). Last year, the Sooners won twice against top-5 foes (vs. No. 3 Baylor; vs. No. 5 Texas) and finished the year 2-4 against ranked teams.

• The Sooners are 295-212 (.581) all-time against Big 12 competition and 202-111 (.645) under Sherri Coale.

• Coale will be inducted into the Women's Basketball Hall of Fame on June 30, 2016, in Knoxville, Tenn. Coale is OU's all-time leader in wins (430) and has led the Sooners to three Final Fours and 16 straight NCAA Tournament appearances.

• The Sooners return the majority of their production in every statistical category for 2015-16. That includes 81 percent of the team's points and rebounds, along with 85 percent of its assists, 81 percent of its blocks and 78 percent of its steals. OU also brings back 80 percent of its made 3-point field goals and its free throw production. 11 letterwinners return from last season's squad that combined to play 5,377 minutes a year ago.
