NORMAN The Oklahoma women's gymnastics team rose to No. 2 nationally in this week's top 25 rankings after posting two 197-plus scores this past weekend. The Sooners hold an average team score of 196.967 through the first three meets of the season.

OU totaled marks of 197.125 in a tri-meet with California and TWU on Friday before closing the weekend with a 197.050 at No. 16 Arkansas on Sunday. OU entered the weekend with the fourth-highest average in the nation.

Florida is currently ranked in the top spot with an average of 197.250. After OU, Michigan (196.950), Alabama (196.783) and UCLA (196.738) round out the top five.

As a team, OU is ranked in the top eight nationally on every event, including three top-three rankings. The Sooners check in at No. 2 on both vault (49.300) and beam (49.267) and hold the No. 3 spot on bars (49.283). On floor, OU is ranked No. 8 with a 49.117 average.

In the national individual rankings, senior Keeley Kmieciak is ranked No. 7 in the all-around with a 39.358 average, while junior Chayse Capps comes in at No. 17, averaging 39.208. This season marks the first time since her freshman year that Kmieciak has competed in the all-around, while this is the first year Capps has done so.

In event rankings, junior McKenzie Wofford's average of 9.925 on bars is good for a tie for No. 1 in the nation. Four Sooners are ranked within the top 25 on vault, led by sophomore AJ Jackson, who shares the No. 2 spot (9.9). Senior Haley Scaman's 9.867 is tied for No. 14, Kmieciak is tied for No. 21 with a 9.858 average and junior Charity Jones comes in at No. 23 with a 9.85.

On beam, Capps sits at No. 9, boasting a 9.883 average, and Kmieciak is tied for No. 12 with a 9.867. Scaman sits in No. 10 on floor with a 9.908 average, and Jackson shares No. 17 with a 9.892.

The Sooners (3-1) will next compete on Friday, Jan. 22, when they face Iowa State and Arizona State in the Beauty and the Beast Meet, hosted in conjunction with OU wrestling.
