NORMAN - While most college basketball teams would use their bye week during conference play to catch up on rest, the Sooners are going to work in the community.
January 11-15 marks "Uncommon Service Week" for Oklahoma women's basketball where the team will volunteer at local shelters, visit OU Children's Hospital and assist those in need. Check back as the Sooners continue their week of service and make an impact in the local community.

MONDAY: MISSION NORMAN
The Sooners spent Monday afternoon at Mission Norman, a local food pantry only two miles from campus that assists those in need with food, finanical assistance and transitional housing.
The team used their time unloading multiple food trucks, cleaning out storage space and sorting through canned foods items. The Sooners kicked off Uncommon Service Week at Mission Norman. Great work by the team and our staff!

TUESDAY: OU CHILDREN'S HOSPTIAL
Tuesday was a day filled with basketball, puppet shows and ice cream. The Sooners traveled to OKC for the afternoon to visit with patients at OU Children's Hosptial.
Kaylon Williams, Shaya Kellogg and Peyton Little put on a puppet show for the crowd. The Sooners and head coach Sherri Coale visited patients through the hospital during the day as the team capped off the visit with an ice cream sundae party. Here's a few pictures from a day:

WEDNESDAY: SALVATION ARMY FOOD PANTRY
The women's basketball players and staff headed north to Oklahoma City for its third day of Uncommon Service Week. The Sooners helped customers at the Salvation Army Food Pantry with their monthly grocery shopping as well as organize boxes of donated food items.
The Salvation Army Food Pantry meets over the 36,000 orders at the Client Food Pantry each month.

THURSDAY: FOOD BANK OF OKLAHOMA
Thursday afternoon the Sooners packed over 500 boxes of food for underprivileged children in the OKC metro area. The work done by the team will help feed over 300 children during weekends.
The Sooners will wrap up Uncommon Service week back in Norman at Full Circle ADult Day Care Center.

FRIDAY: FULL CIRCLE ADULT DAY CARE CENTER
The Sooners capped off Uncommon Service Week at Full Circle Adult Day Care Center in Norman on Friday. Players and staff visited with the patients and workers throughout the afternoon. The team particpated in karaoke, danced and playeed board games to cap off the week.
