NORMAN — University of Oklahoma student-athletes — known for their athletic victories — are also setting record highs in academics. From cumulative semester grade point averages to graduation to academic progress, the 2014-15 school year marked another standout season.

"I am extremely proud of the records set by our student-athletes," said University of Oklahoma President David L. Boren. "Sooners are truly outstanding as athletes and as students."

Said OU Vice President and Director of Athletics Joe Castiglione: "As a whole, our student-athletes continue to perform very well in the classroom as they progress toward, and meet, their ultimate goal of obtaining a degree from Oklahoma. These latest numbers directly reflect the continued dedication to academic success by our student-athletes, their coaches and the OU academic staff."

OU student-athletes:

• Achieved a cumulative grade-point average of 3.00 or higher for an unprecedented seventh consecutive semester, posting a 3.02 combined GPA for the spring after the record-setting fall mark of 3.06;

• Graduated 127 students: 113 with undergraduate degrees, 13 master's and one doctorate;

• Captured 209 Academic All-Big 12 honors and a conference-best 60 Academic All-Big 12 Rookie Team awards;

• Attained 306 Big 12 Commissioner's Honor Roll awards for the spring semester;

• Achieved 93 perfect 4.0 GPAs in the fall and spring semesters combined;

• Recorded perfect 1,000 single-year Academic Progress Rate scores by 11 teams for 2013-14, marking the fifth consecutive year that all OU Athletics programs have finished above the NCAA minimum, and

• Accomplished APRs above the national average by 15 of OU's 21 teams, with three teams — women's golf, women's gymnastics and women's tennis — posting perfect multi-year APR scores.
