NORMAN — The University of Oklahoma and Sooner Sports Properties, a division of Learfield Sports, have signed Toby Rowland to a new five-year contract as the play-by-play voice of the Sooner Sports Network.
Rowland will continue his duties as play-by-play voice on radio broadcasts of OU football, men's basketball and baseball games, as well as host many weekly OU Athletics shows on radio and television. A two-time Emmy Award winner for his television work, Rowland has been the voice of the Sooners for the past four years and has been associated with OU Athletics programming for six years.

"I continue to be honored and humbled to be entrusted with this responsibility which is absolutely the love of my professional life," said Rowland. "I will never be able to thank President (David) Boren, Mr. (Joe) Castiglione, the great people at Learfield Sports and Sooner Nation enough for the faith they have put in me to be their eyes and ears. It's a joy and a passion, and I hope that comes through on our broadcasts."
Rowland is a 1995 graduate of Southern Nazarene University. Prior to his association with OU Athletics, he spent 12 years as an anchor, producer and reporter for Oklahoma City CBS television affiliate KWTV. He has hosted a morning talk show on KREF 1400 AM for the past 13 years.
"(Toby's) genuine enthusiasm, dedication, creativity, versatility and delivery are just some of the reasons why he has quickly become a fan favorite."
