Opening Statement: Awesome team win. When you get in the losers bracket and you see what lies ahead of you, it takes 27 men. You're not always going to have a good performance. You've got to have teammates pick up one another. The game was played great by both sides. [Corey] Fischer pitched a great game for those guys when they needed it. I knew it was going come down to the end. Our seniors played great. We had Jeffery Curran come in unexpectedly and he did an unbelievable job giving us a chance to win. You see [Taylor] Alspaugh, [Joshua] Ake and other seniors doing great things in pressure situations. You usually get great results, but it's going to take 27 men from here on out. Great team win, and one game at a time.
On the pressure of deciding whose going to pitch: It's a different situation, but you put yourself in those situations when you're in the loser's bracket. You think differently. You try to win a tournament and sometimes your decisions are affected toward tomorrow and you might not get to tomorrow. I think we made the right decision in the end. I just wanted to see if Alec was fine and in the end I thought the best chance for us to see tomorrow was to start Alec.
On getting to the Kansas State bullpen: We got to it. Give Kansas State all the credit in the world, they are kind of piece-mailing through a lot of injuries. They had an unbelievable game plan against us the last two ballgames with two different styles. You can't say enough about their coaching staff and what a gutty performance from Fischer. A junior-college kid, who hasn't been on this stage, making pressure pitches and he did it all night long. He's a pretty impressive kid. That's what college baseball is all about. When you get in those tight games at the end, it's usually a big hit or miscue that ends up winning the game for you. Our guys played really good in those pressure situations and they have all year long. I had a lot of faith.
LHP Jeffrey Curran
On how long he thought he would pitch: I wasn't sure if it was just one inning or maybe two. I was just going to go as hard as I could for as long as I could just to give the team everything I had.
On playing Oklahoma State: We're going to be ready tomorrow. This is probably the opponent we look forward to playing the most. Hopefully we can come away with the win tomorrow.
RHP Robert Tasin
On ninth-inning excitement: I was really hyped. I knew we were going to get the win. All of the confidence was on our side. We had a great defense behind us. Jeff was throwing the ball. Evans was on the mound after him. We have a lot of faith in both those guys. The dugout had a lot of morale and it came through for us in the ninth.
On playing Oklahoma State: Anytime you have the Bedlam game it's going to be high stakes, big crowd, a lot of emotion going in to it, especially when it's the Big 12 Tournament in Tulsa. The fans are going to come out and both teams are going to get ready to go. We're ready for it and we're excited.
INF Kolbey Carpenter
On Corey Fischer: Fischer pitched really well. I think I was just fortunate enough to find some holes and not do too much out there. I was just trying to get on and it seemed to work out for us.
On the momentum in the eighth inning: They had the winning run at third and it was big for us to get out of that and then come in and score in the ninth and to just get the win.
