NORMAN, Okla. – The Oklahoma men's gymnastics program has rallied around the mantra “Time For Nine” all season long, as the storied program seeks to win its ninth NCAA team national title.
The Sooners have dominated throughout the entire 2015 campaign, posting a perfect record of 16-0 and claiming their fourth consecutive MPSF title heading into the NCAA Championships this weekend, which take place at the Lloyd Noble Center on OU's campus.
After four straight years of falling just short of the NCAA team crown with second place finishes, all of the hard work and amazing performances over the summer and during this season come down to this one weekend in the team's quest for the elusive team title.
The NCAA Championships begin for the Crimson and Cream on Thursday evening, as OU competes in the second prelim session of the day at 7 p.m. CT. The No. 1 Sooners will go up against No. 4 Michigan, No. 5 Illinois, No. 8 Iowa, No. 9 Ohio State and No. 12 Army, with the top three teams advancing to Friday night's team finals at 7 p.m. The championship weekend will conclude with the individual event finals on Saturday at 7 p.m.
Tickets to this weekend's NCAA Championships can be purchased here.
More information about the NCAA Championships can be found at the Championship Central website.
For Friday evening's team final, the first 100 students who present an Oklahoma ID will get in free. For the individual event finals on Saturday, fans who present an OU football spring game ticket stub will receive a discounted price of $5 for a ticket. Also, members of the U.S. Men's Gymnastics National Team will be present and signing autographs at the championships, including OU legends Jake Dalton and Steve Legendre.

• The Sooners are no strangers to success at the NCAA Championships. Oklahoma has claimed eight national titles in program history, including five under the direction of head coach Mark Williams. Since the turn of the millennium, OU has claimed the NCAA crown in 2002, 2003, 2005, 2006 and 2008. The Sooners have recorded a top three team finish in each of the last 14 seasons and have never finished outside of the top four during Williams' tenure. Oklahoma has claimed silver in each of the last four seasons.
• Individually Oklahoma has excelled during NCAA Championship weekend. The Sooners have claimed 41 NCAA champions as a program. 28 of the 41 individual national champs have during Williams' rein. The Crimson and Cream have placed at least one individual atop the podium in each of the last 10 seasons.
The Sooners return two gymnasts to the championships that combined to win three event titles in 2014 and four in their careers. Senior Alec Robin captured the floor exercise and vault championships last season after posting a 15.425 on floor and a 15.250 on vault. On the rings, senior Michael Squires is the two-time defending national champion. Squires took the 2014 crown with a mark of 15.800 and won the title in 2013 with a 15.775. If Squires can win the 2015 still rings title, he will join Paul O'Neill (1987-89) as the only other gymnast to win on the still rings in three consecutive seasons.
• Oklahoma has posted some of the most dominant performances in recent memory at the NCAA level this season. The Crimson and Cream broke the NCAA record for overall team score twice in as many competitions by totaling a mark of 456.400 against Michigan and following up with a 457.300 against No. 2 Illinois. The Sooners are the only team in NCAA history to score higher than a 450, which they accomplished twice this season.
• Oklahoma has the top-ranked competitors in three of the six individual events heading into the 2015 NCAA Championships. Senior Mike Squires leads the way with an unbelievable national qualifying average of 16.063 on the still rings, while fellow senior Michael Reid possesses a national qualifying average of 15.633 on the pommel horse to take the nation's top ranking. OU senior Danny Berardini ranks first in the country on the high bar with an average of 15.363.
• The perfect 16-0 record by the Sooners only scratches the surface of showing how dominant the team has been in 2015. Oklahoma has posted the highest event individual score in 43 of 48 events this season, with 13 Sooners combining to claim the 43 top scores. The Crimson and Cream swept first-place finishes at the Rocky Mountain Open, the tri-meet at Iowa, the home-opener vs. Michigan, the dual vs. No. 2 Illinois and the dual vs. Ohio State. Oklahoma has yet to suffer a defeat on the still rings or high bar events.
