IRVING, Texas – The top-ranked Oklahoma women's gymnastics team captured a conference-high 14 spots on the All-Big 12 Gymnastics team, the league announced on Thursday.
The Sooners earned every All-Big 12 spot except one on all four events to record largest number of All-Big 12 honorees in league history.
This season marks the eighth straight year that the Sooners have led the conference in All-Big 12 selections and it is the sixth consecutive season that the Sooners have earned at least nine all-conference selections.
Junior Haley Scaman and freshman Brenna Dowell each picked up a conference-leading three awards, both earning spots on vault, bars and floor. Scaman's 2015 listing gives her eight total awards in three seasons at OU.
Sophomore Chayse Capps pulled down two awards this year (vault and beam). Capps' award marks her first appearance in the vault all-conference listing and a second-straight appearance on beam. She now owns a total of four All-Big 12 accolades in her first two seasons at OU.
Ali Jackson joined Capps with two awards as the true freshman captured accolades on vault and floor. Senior Rebecca Clark earned a second consecutive beam honor after earning her first career all-conference honor in 2014.
Three additional Sooners capped off Oklahoma's selections with their first career All-Big 12 Sophomores McKenzie Wofford and Kara Lovan earned respective awards on bars and beam. Senior Haley Sorensen also captured her first career All-Big 12 honor, capturing the award on beam after a stellar regular season.
The All-Big 12 squad consists of the top three conference gymnasts with the highest regional qualifying score (RQS) in each event in addition to the top two all-around gymnasts.
After concluding an undefeated regular season, the Sooners will look to record a 13th conference title this Saturday, March 21 as they host the Big 12 Championships in Norman. The meet is scheduled for a 5 p.m. CST start and will be broadcast live on FS Oklahoma + and FS Southwest +.
