IRVING, Texas - Nine members of the No. 1 Oklahoma women's gymnastics team were named 2015 Academic All-Big 12 selections on Tuesday. This season marks the second in a row that OU has placed nine gymnasts on the listing.

OU's nine honorees in 2015 with the 2014 class for the highest number of academic all-conference picks under head coach K.J. Kindler. The Sooners posted a program-record team GPA of 3.42 last semester.

Of Oklahoma's nine Academic All-Big 12 picks, eight are first team honorees. The Sooners' nine total picks led all conference teams, as West Virginia earned seven selections and Iowa State added five honorees.

Senior Rebecca Clark earned her third career distinction after being named a first team selection. Clark graduated with her degree in accounting in December and is currently in graduate school at Oklahoma.

Fellow seniors Haley Sorensen and Erica Brewer also earned awards. Sorensen was named a first team honoree, while Brewer garnered second team honors.

Juniors Maile'ana Kanewa, Keeley Kmieciak and Haley Scaman each earned their second consecutive first team awards from the conference.

Rounding out the listing for OU were first-time honorees and sophomores Chayse Capps, Kara Lovan and McKenzie Wofford. All three earned first team distinctions.

Oklahoma now owns nine straight seasons with at least four academic all-conference picks. Kindler's teams have earned a total of 64 awards during her nine seasons as head coach.

First team members consist of those who have maintained a 3.20 or better GPA, while second-team picks must hold a GPA of 3.0-3.19.

To qualify, student-athletes must maintain a 3.00 GPA or higher either cumulative or the two previous semesters and must have participated in 60 percent of their team's scheduled contests. Freshmen and transfers are not eligible in their first year of academic residence. Senior student-athletes who have participated for a minimum of two years and meet all the criteria except percent of participation are also eligible.

The Sooners finished the regular season with a perfect 14-0 mark last weekend. The squad enters postseason competition this Saturday afternoon at the 2015 Big 12 Championship meet in Norman at the Lloyd Noble Center. The meet is slated for a 5 p.m. CT start.
