WOODLAND, Calif. – The Mountain Pacific Sports Federation announced on Tuesday that Oklahoma men's gymnastics sophomore Allan Bower has been named the MPSF Gymnast of the Week for his performance in the Winter Cup in Las Vegas.
Bower earned a spot on the U.S. Senior Men's National Team after his performance at the Winter Cup in Las Vegas, Nev. The sophomore scored a 171.700 for a seventh-place finish. The score was the second best among all collegiate athletes at the competition.
Bower's best individual event finish came on the pommel horse, as he placed fifth with a two-session score of 29.600. The sophomore bested a number of former Olympians and professional gymnasts at the two-day event.
Bower and the rest of the Oklahoma team returns to competition for a home meet against No. 2 Illinois. The Sooners and Illini will square off on Friday, Feb. 27 at 7 p.m. in McCasland Field House in a battle of the last two unbeaten squads in NCAA men's gymnastics.
