OU-Texas Tech Postgame Quotes

Return to Recap

Head Coach Lon Kruger
Opening comment:
“Obviously a really tough game, tough battle for 40 minutes, not much margin either way. I thought Tech played great. I thought they did everything they needed to do, wanted to do. No surprise – Coach (Tubby) Smith has done that for a long time. He had his guys ready to play hard and compete, and I thought they made shots. I am proud of our guys to regroup there in overtime after a tough finish there and find a way to win a ballgame. Good win for us over a Tech club that really played hard.”

On Isaiah Cousins and Frank Booker:
“Oh, they were huge. They were huge. Frank picked us up there with some shots early, and he made some other good plays, too, other than just shooting the ball – a couple of nice passes that led to buckets. Isaiah was really good all night as well. It was huge, these two guys. Without them doing what they did, we wouldn't have ended up on the right side.”

On players stepping up with the offense was struggling as a whole:
“I thought TaShawn (Thomas) made some good plays at times. These guys (Cousins and Booker) did. Jordan (Woodard) made some big shots. I think the maturity of this club is continuing to show. I think we continue to grow, and obviously, we would prefer Buddy (Hield) also make shots along with these guys, but there's nights like that. He'll bounce back and do well.”

On OU's offensive rebounding and second-chance points:
“It was a tough game all the way around. Boards were probably fairly even. We had some key rebounds at key times, and a couple of the put backs as well. I thought Tech, again, played great and made shots. I thought they made great shots.”

Junior Guard Isaiah Cousins
On his thoughts when the game went into overtime:
“I was thinking, 'We just have to play. We have to fight these five minutes and give it our all and just come out strong and finish the game.'”

On Buddy Hield hitting two 3-pointers in overtime after struggling in regulation:
“That was nice. It gave him confidence and it gave the team momentum and it just gave us another opportunity to put points on the board.”

Sophomore Guard Frank Booker
On his shooting performance:
“When I had an open one, I just knocked it down. It wasn't that I had to shoot the ball or had to make shots, I just felt like it was my time to shoot the ball, and I am going to shoot the ball when I am open.”
