SUNDAY'S GAME BASICS

No. 17/17 Oklahoma (9-1) wraps up its non-conference slate on Sunday as the Sooners take on No. 18/18 Texas A&M (7-3) in the Big 12/SEC Challenge in Oklahoma City. Tip-off is set for 4 p.m. CT at the Chesapeake Energy Arena. The Sooners have won eight consecutive games, tying its longest winning streak from last season. Gabbi Ortiz scored a career-high 22 points as OU topped UTSA, 80-41, on Dec. 13. Sunday's meeting marks the first matchup between Oklahoma and Texas A&M since March 9, 2012. The Aggies are 7-3 this season and under the direction of head coach Gary Blair.

Sunday's game will air on Fox Sports 1 with Ron Thulin and Brenda VanLengen announcing. The contest will also air on the Sooner Radio Network with Brian Brinkley calling the action.

FIVE THINGS TO KNOW

• The Sooners close out their non-conference schedule by taking on No. 18/18 Texas A&M Sunday at 4 p.m. CT in the Big 12/SEC Challenge. Oklahoma leads the all-time series with the Aggies, 27-20, and is 23-15 versus Texas A&M under head coach Sherri Coale. Sunday's game marks the first meeting between the two programs since March 9, 2012.

Kaylon Williams recorded her third double-double in the last four games with 16 points and 12 rebounds against UTSA on Dec. 13. The redshirt senior forward is averaging 17.3 points and 11.8 rebounds per game over the last four contests. Williams picked up double-double in the first half vs. the Roadrunners, posting 10 points and 10 rebounds in the first half last Sunday. She leads the Sooners with 13 career double-doubles and has logged double-digit points/rebounds in four games this season.

• Sophomore Gabbi Ortiz set a career-high with 22 points on 7 of 10 shooting to lead the Sooners in their 80-41 win over UTSA. The sophomore also knocked down six 3-pointers to set a career-high. Her 22 points rank as a season-high by an OU player this season and her six triples are tied for the most by any player in the Big 12 this year.

Sophomore guard Gabbi Ortiz has started 43 consecutive games and scored a career-high 22 points in OU's victory over UTSA.

• Redshirt junior Peyton Little has hit at least one 3-pointer in every game to start the season and has made a triple in 15 straight games dating back to the 2014-15 season. The run by Little to begin the year is tied for the second-best start in school history. Her streak of 15 straight games with a 3-pointers ranks fifth in OU's record book.

• Oklahoma is off to its best start since the 2010-11 season, when the Sooners began the year with a 9-1 record. With a victory, the Sooners can move to 10-1 for the first time since the 2006-07 season.


GAME 10 RECAP: UTSA

Gabbi Ortiz scored a career-high 22 points, Kaylon Williams picked up her second straight double-double and McKenna Treece recorded 13 points off the bench to lead No. 17/18 Oklahoma to its eighth straight win with an 80-41 victory over UTSA.

• Ortiz, a preseason All-Big 12 selection, knocked down a career-high six 3-pointers in the win as the Sooners finished the game 11 for 28 (.393) from behind the arc. The six triples from Ortiz are the most by an OU player in a game this season. She finished with a career-high seven made field goals, while recording four rebounds, three assists and two steals.

• Williams led the Sooners with 12 rebounds and chipped in 16 points for her second straight game with a double-double. The redshirt senior picked up the double-double at the intermission, recording 10 points and 10 rebounds in the opening half. Williams was 6 of 8 from the floor, while adding in one block and a steal against UTSA.

• The Sooners outscored UTSA, 27-9, in the third quarter as Treece found her rhythm offensively, scoring eight points off the bench while knocking down two 3-pointers. The sophomore finished with a season-high 13 points and was 3 of 5 from the range in the victory in 14 minutes. OU finished the game with a .435 field goal percentage on 20 of 46 from the floor as the Sooners held UTSA to just 12 of 52 (.231) shooting. The Roadrunners finished 16 of 67 (.239) from the field, including 6 of 24 (.250) from deep


PREVIEWING TEXAS A&M

• Texas A&M fell to 7-3 this season with a 80-66 loss to DePaul on Dec. 12 at Reed Arena. The Aggies have played four ranked opponents in their last eight games.

• Senior Courtney Walker leads the Aggies with 15.8 points per game and is tied for the team lead with 5.2 rebounds per contest. Walker is the SEC's active leader in points and ranks fifth in Texas A&M history in career points.

• Senior Courtney Williams also averages in doubles figures, scoring 15.0 points per game and chipping 4.0 boards per game. She was named SEC Co-Player of the Week on Dec. 1 after averaging 26.5 points per game against No. 16 Cal and No. 11 Ohio State. Senior guard Jordan Jones has led the SEC in assists the past two seasons and averages 6.1 assists per game.

• Gary Blair is in his 13th season at Texas A&M and is 293-122 as the Aggies' head coach. Blair guided Texas A&M to the 2011 NCAA Championship and is currently tied for 11th all-time with 702 coaching victories. He is just the 16th Division I coach to earn 700 career wins. Blair is also a member of the Women's Basketball Hall of Fame.


DOUBLE-DOUBLE KAY KAY

• Redshirt senior Kaylon Williams has logged double-doubles in three of the last four games for the Sooners . Williams leads OU with 13 career double-doubles and is just three shy of cracking the top 10 in OU history.

• Williams has averaged 17.3 points and 11.8 rebounds per game over the last four contests. During the 2015-16 season, she has scored in double figures in all 10 games. Dating back to last year, Williams has finished in double-digits 17 times in the last 18 games for the Sooners.

• The redshirt senior ranks seventh all-time in OU history with 271 offensive rebounds and is tied for 10th with 60 blocks. Her .550 career field goal percentage is the 13th best mark among active players in the NCAA.


ON THE RISE

Peyton Little continues to climb the OU record book and currently ranks fifth in school history with 15 consecutive games with a made 3-pointer. Little passed former Sooners Aaryn Ellenberg (14, 2010-11) and Rosalind Ross (14, 2001-02) on Sunday by knocking down her only triple against UTSA in the third quarter. She needs four more games with a make from behind the arc to tie Erin Higgins (19, 2005-06) for fourth place.

• Little has also made a 3-pointer in each game to start the season, which is the second-best streak in school history. She's currently tied with former Sooners Etta Maytubby (1995-96) and Chelsi Welch (2006-07) for second place. Ellenberg holds the school record with 14 games with a 3-pointer to start the 2010-11 season.


QUICK HITTERS

Kaylon Williams is the only player on OU's roster that has played against Texas A&M. During her freshman season (2011-12), Williams averaged 4.7 points and 3.0 rebounds per game in three contests against the Aggies.

Kaylon Williams' 15 rebounds against Little Rock marked the most rebounds by an OU player since Joanna McFarland logged 16 boards against UCLA in the second round of the 2013 NCAA Tournament. She is fifth in the Big 12 with 50 defensive rebounds this season. Williams also ranks fifth in the Big 12 and 29th nationally with a .578 shooting percentage.

• Oklahoma is 31st in the NCAA with 169 assists and has recorded 20 or more assists three times in the last six games. The Sooners' 16.9 assists per game rank 36th in the nation heading into Sunday's game vs. Texas A&M.

• OU is 8-0 this season when outrebounding its opponent. The Sooners have dominated the boards over the last five games with a +10.4 margin on the glass.

• The Sooners have held nine of their 10 opponents to sub-45 percent field goal shooting (six times in the last seven games). OU has held eight of its 10 foes to sub 33-percent 3-point shooting this season.

• Head coach Sherri Coale picked up her 200th non-conference victory on Dec. 6 in OU's 71-68 comeback victory at Washington. Coale also won her 425th game at Oklahoma with the Sooners' 76-61 win over Boston College (Nov. 28)

• OU is 70-68 all-time against current members of the SEC: Alabama (0-1), Arkansas (10-8), Kentucky (0-1), Ole Miss (1-2), Mississippi State (1-0), Missouri (29-29), Tennessee (1-5), Texas A&M (27-20), Vanderbilt (1-2).

• OU has started the year with a 3-0 record on the road. The last time the Sooners won three straight non-conference road games occurred during the 2007-08 season when Oklahoma defeated Illinois (77-67), Tulsa (67-47) and Michigan State (66-55).

• The Sooners return the majority of their production in every statistical category for 2015-16. That includes 81 percent of the team's points and rebounds, along with 85 percent of its assists, 81 percent of its blocks and 78 percent of its steals. OU also brings back 80 percent of its made 3-point field goals and its free throw production. 11 letterwinners return from last season's squad that combined to play 5,377 minutes a year ago.


UP NEXT

The Sooners open their Big 12 slate against Kansas on Wednesday, Dec. 30 at 7 p.m. CT at Lloyd Noble Center. The game will be televised on Fox Sports Oklahoma. OU leads the all-time series with the Jayhawks, 33-30.
