NORMAN Gabbi Ortiz scored a career-high 22 points, Kaylon Williams picked up her seocnd straight double-double and McKenna Treece recorded 13 points off the bench to lead No. 17/18 Oklahoma women's basketball to its eighth straight win with an 80-41 victory over UTSA on Sunday.

Ortiz, a preseason All-Big 12 selection, knocked down a career-high six 3-pointers in the win as the Sooners (9-1) finished the game 11 for 28 (.393) from behind the arc. The six triples from Ortiz are the most by an OU player in a game this season.

She finished with a career-high seven made field goals, while recording four rebounds, three assists and two steals. The sophomore's 22 points versus UTSA (2-4) rank as the most scored by a Sooner in single game this season.

“It was a good win,” Oklahoma head coach Sherri Coale said. “It took us a little while to get going. We were kind of sluggish at the beginning and missed a lot of easy shots. We let our defense generate a lot of energy and that led into a great offensive performance in the second half, a third quarter that I am really proud of. I thought we were dialed in.”

Williams led the Sooners with 12 rebounds and chipped in 16 points for her second straight game with a double-double. The redshirt senior picked up the double-double at the intermission, recording 10 points and 10 rebounds in the opening half. Williams was 7 of 9 from the floor, while adding in one block and a steal.

“We executed well, shot well, defended well and rebounded well,” Coale said. “It has been a while since we have put that all together in that way, so I was really pleased. I thought the three guys on the stage, (Gabbi Ortiz, Kaylon Williams, and McKenna Treece) all three had big important nights.”

To begin the third quarter, Ortiz and Peyton Little sparked OU's offense by hitting back-to-back 3-pointers to open the second half. The Sooners extended its lead to 61-31 heading into the fourth quarter by shooting 9 of 16 (.563) from the floor and 4 of 6 (.667) from deep in the frame.

Little, who scored six points Sunday, extended her streak to 15 consecutive games with a made 3-pointer, which ranks as the fifth-longest stretch in program history.

Thanks to its pressure defense, OU held UTSA to 3 of 16 (.188) from the floor to begin the second half as the Sooners used a 20-4 run to pull away from the Roadrunners.

The Sooners outscored UTSA, 27-9, in the third quarter as Treece found her rhythm offensively, scoring eight points off the bench while knocking down two 3-pointers. The sophomore finished with a season-high 13 points and was 3 of 5 from the range in the victory in 14 minutes.

OU finished the game with a .435 field goal percentage on 20 of 46 from the floor as the Sooners held UTSA to just 12 of 52 (.231) shooting. The Roadrunners finished 16 of 67 (.239) from the field, including 6 of 24 from deep. OU also forced 18 UTSA turnovers and finished with eight steals.

Oklahoma recorded 50-plus rebounds for the second consecutive game, outrebounding the Roadrunners, 52-40. The Sooners scored 19 points off turnovers and 28 points in the paint against UTSA.

Carlie Heineman led the Roadrunners with 12 points, hitting 3 of 6 from 3-point range. Kasia Kiejdrowska chipped in eight points, while Akunna Elonu pulled down a team-high seven rebounds.

The Sooners close out their non-conference schedule next Sunday at the Chesapeake Energy Arena in Oklahoma City against Texas A&M at the Big 12/SEC Challenge. Tip-off is set for 4 p.m. CT and the game will be televised on FS1. Tickets are available here.
