NORMAN—The No. 14 Oklahoma men's golf team sits in first place through 18 holes of the Ka'anapali Classic Collegiate Invitational with a 276 (-8). The three-day, 54-hole tournament is taking place at the par-71, 6,700-yard Royal Ka'anapali Course in Maui, Hawaii.

Sitting three strokes behind OU is NC State, who is currently No. 37 in the Golfweek/Sagarin Rankings. Host school Hawaii is in third place with a 282 (-2), and No. 21 South Carolina is in fourth place at even-par 284. In a three-way tie for fifth place are No. 17 Georgia, No. 32 Liberty and CSU-Northridge with a 285 (-1).

“It's a great way to start out here, and I am proud of our guys,” OU head coach Ryan Hybl said. “We finished strong coming down the stretch and that was huge for us.”

Sophomore Rylee Reinertson, who is playing as an individual and is unattached from team scoring, is currently in a tie for first place overall. The Gibbon, Neb., native recorded five birdies and an eagle en route to a 65 (-6), his career-low round and his fourth career round in the 60s.

Leading the team lineup is freshman Brad Dalke, who holds third place. Dalke also shot his career-low round Friday, recording a 66 (-5) with four birdies and an eagle.

One stroke behind Dalke is sophomore Grant Hirschman, who tied his career-low round with a 67 (-4) and is in a tie for fourth place. Hirschman earned his sixth career round in the 60s with three birdies and an eagle.

Also in the top 20 for the Sooners is Luke Kwon. The senior has a share of 15th place after carding a 69 (-2) on the day, tying his career-low round.

“Dalke and Hirschman both played really solid today, and I thought Kwon had a nice round as well,” Hybl said. “Lastly, it's great to see Reinertson put together a great round today in the individual slot, and he is in a perfect spot to compete for a tournament win.”

Despite shooting four birdies, junior Max McGreevy could not overcome late bogeys and finished the day in a tie for 51st with a 74 (+3). Freshman Aaron Terrazas totaled 76 (+5) on the day and holds a tie for 72nd place overall.

The second round of the Ka'anapali Classic Collegiate Invitational is slated to begin Saturday at 12:30 p.m. CT with a shotgun start. Live scoring will be available at Golfstat.com
