Williams scored a game-high 22 points on 7-for-14 from the floor. The sophomore also secured a career-high nine rebounds and added one assist and one blockl.

NORMAN — In its closest Big 12 contest of the season, the Oklahoma women's basketball team grinded to a 70-64 win over Texas Tech on Saturday afternoon inside Lloyd Noble Center.

With the win, the Sooners stayed perfect at 7-0 in Big 12 play and improved to 13-5 overall, while Texas Tech fell to 12-7 overall and 2-5 in league contests. OU also secured the regular season sweep of the Lady Raiders, first defeating them 75-58 on Saturday, Jan. 10, in Lubbock, Texas.

A total of 10 OU players scored in Saturday's victory, led by Gioya Carter's 22 points on 7-for-14 from the field. The sophomore also grabbed a career-high nine rebounds and added an assist and a block.

Redshirt junior Kaylon Williams contributed nine second-half points after being limited to just two minutes in the opening period due to foul trouble, and redshirt sophomore Peyton Little also scored nine points and secured a game-high four steals. Finishing with eight points were freshman Gabbi Ortiz and redshirt sophomore Maddie Manning.

For the game, OU overcame an off shooting night in which it went 21-for-53 (36.9 percent) from the field, 5-for-18 (27.8) from 3-point range and 23-for-35 (65.7 percent) from the free-throw line.

The Sooners led by as many as eight points with 5:57 remaining in the first in the first half before Texas Tech tied the contest at 24 with just under four minutes left. OU closed the half on a 7-2 run to regain control and take a 31-26 lead into the locker room.

OU then opened up a 10-point advantage early in the second half before the Lady Raiders took a 44-43 lead at the 12:02 mark. From there, the game remained close the rest of the way. With the game tied at 52, K. Williams hit back-to-back buckets to give OU a 56-52 lead with 4:47 left, one it would keep for the duration of the game.

The Sooners return to the court at 6 p.m. CT on Thursday, Jan. 29, when they play at No. 8/9 Texas. The contest will be televised by FOX Sports 1.
