NORMAN - After a 2-0 start to the 2015 regular season, the No. 1 Oklahoma women's gymnastics team has earned two more weekly awards from the Big 12 Conference.

Haley Scaman was named Big 12 Gymnast of the Week for the second time in a row and Brenna Dowell captured her first Newcomer of the Week award from the conference office.

Joining the OU pair this week was Iowa State's Sammie Pearsall, who earned Event Specialist of the Week accolades.

Scaman took home individual event titles on both vault and floor for the second meet in a row against No. 11 Minnesota last Saturday. The junior posted routines of 9.9 across the board on vault, bars and floor while adding a second-place finish on bars with her season-high scoring effort. Scaman has now won the floor exercise title in four consecutive team competitions for Oklahoma, dating back to April 18, 2014.

Scaman is tied for second in the nation on floor exercise after two weeks with an average of 9.925 and is also ranked in the top 15 nationally on vault (eighth-9.925) and bars (13^th, 9.875).

Dowell netted her first career weekly honor this week after posting a career-high 9.95 in the anchor position on bars to capture the event title last weekend. She is one of only seven gymnasts and one of two freshman in the country to post a 9.95 on bars thus far in 2015.

The Odessa, Mo., native is currently ranked No. 8 in the country on the event. She added a 9.825 on vault and also exhibitioned on floor exercise.

Fans can catch Dowell, Scaman and the rest of the top-ranked Sooner squad in action this Friday, Jan. 23 at the Lloyd Noble Center. OU is set to face TWU and Southeast Missouri State at 6:45 p.m. CT.
