NOTES AND NUMBERS FOR WEEK TWO

BACK ON TOP
After opening the season at No. 2, the Oklahoma women's gymnastics team is back on top with the No. 1 overall ranking in the country this week. The rank marks the fifth time in the past two years that Oklahoma has earned a No. 1 ranking during the regular season. OU posted the nation's top score on opening weekend (197.625) and will look to support that effort in its road opener this week. The top-ranked Sooners are set to face No. 11 Minnesota on the road in Minneapolis this Saturday, Jan. 17.

MIGHTY VS. MINNESOTA
Oklahoma will take on a familiar foe in 11th-ranked Minnesota this weekend; the Sooners have faced the Golden Gophers five times under head coach K.J Kindler and own a 5-0 record in those contests. In addition to Kindler's unbeaten record, OU is 2-0 in meets held in Minneapolis under her leadership. Minneapolis will provide familiar terrain to Oklahoma's upperclassmen: the squad took first in the NCAA Minneapolis Regional with a 197.725 last season. Of Oklahoma's top five scores last season, two came in meets against the Golden Gophers.

BEGINNING BIG
OU has developed a reputation for big season openers in recent years under Coach Kindler. The Sooners own four season openers of 196.250 or better since 2010, including scores of 196.450 in 2013, 197.700 in 2014 and 197.625 in 2015. OU's season opening scores in 2015 and 2014 were both the best in the nation.

READY FOR THE ROAD
The Sooners will aim to continue a trend of strength in away meets this weekend with their road opener for 2015. OU has steadily increased its road average in each of the last four seasons under Coach Kindler, culminating in a regular season average of 197.6795 away from the Lloyd Noble Center in 2014.

QUICK HITS
• Three Sooners swept the Big 12 weekly honors from the conference office this week: defending Big 12 Gymnast of the Year Haley Scaman earned Gymnast of the Week honors, McKenzie Wofford was named Event Specialist of the Week and Ali Jackson earned Newcomer of the Week accolades.
• Six Oklahoma gymnasts picked up a total of seven top-five national rankings this week as individuals: Haley Scaman (FX - 1st, V - T-2nd), Chayse Capps (BB - T-2nd), Ali Jackson (FX - T-2nd), McKenzie Wofford (UB - T-4th), Erica Brewer (BB - T-5th) and Rebecca Clark (BB - T-5th).
• The Sooners displayed impressive depth against Arkansas last week on exhibition routines: Ali Jackson picked up a 9.875 on uneven bars and Haley Sorensen captured a 9.875 on balance beam.
• Junior Haley Scaman enters this season as the only Sooner in program history to post multiple 10.0s in a career and 10.0s on multiple events. Scaman owns two perfect scores on floor and one on vault--all achieved in 2014. Scaman earned 20 event title crowns last season.
• All of OU's regular season matches as well as the conference championship and regional contests will be televised live by Sooner Sports TV.
• With 274 career victories, head coach K.J. Kindler is within striking distance of her 300th career win in 2015.
