Freshman point guard Gabbi Ortiz had a strong week for the Sooners, averaging 10.0 points, 4.0 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 2.0 steals in OU's 2-0 week. Ortiz scored eight points and had four rebounds, three assists and three steals in the Sooners 12-point win at Kansas. Six of her points came in crucial minutes, as was sent to the free throw line three times in the final 1:21 and sank all six free throw attempts to secure the close victory. Heading into the game, Ortiz had sank just 1-of-9 from the charity stripe. In the Sooners victory at Texas Tech, Ortiz finished with 12 points – hitting three 3-pointers and sinking 3-of-4 from the free throw line. She again filled up the stat sheet, grabbing four rebounds, passing out two assists and making one steal. |

OKLAHOMA HOSTS NO. 4/5 WEDNESDAY
The Oklahoma women's basketball team returns to the Lloyd Noble Center Wednesday to host No. 4/5 Texas at 7 p.m. The Sooners enter into the contest on a four-game winning streak and with a perfect 3-0 record. The Longhorns started the season winning 13-straight contests but dropped their last Big 12 game to Iowa State, 59-57. Texas was picked to win the Big 12 and boasts the Big 12 Preseason Freshman of the Year Ariel Atkins.
OKLAHOMA AND THE BIG 12 CONFERENCE
• Oklahoma won its fourth-straight Big 12 opener with a 71-60 win over RV/21 West Virginia at the Lloyd Noble Center, Jan. 4. Sophomore guard Gioya Carter had a breakout game, tallying a career-high 24 points and grabbing a career-high eight boards. • The Sooners followed that up with a 69-57 win at Kansas to move to 2-0 in the Big 12. Redshirt junior Kaylon Williams came alive against the Wildcats with a double-double of 14 points and 11 rebounds. She also played a career-high 34 minutes.
• The Sooners moved to 3-0 in league after defeating Texas Tech in Lubbock by the score of 75-58. Redshirt sophomore Peyton Little scored a team-high 13 points - all coming in the first half. Redshirt junior Kaylon Williams did foul out of the contest; the four time this season.
• Oklahoma also opened the 2012-13 Big 12 season winning its first three contests and went on to reach the Sweet Sixteen of the NCAA Tournament that year.
SOONERS NOW 3-0 IN BIG 12 PLAY
• Oklahoma ended the 2014 Big 12 Conference slate with a 9-9 mark. The record tied the Sooners for fifth with Iowa State.
• The Sooners finished with a 6-3 Big 12 Conference record playing at home in 2014 and a 3-6 mark playing on the road.
• Oklahoma has one reigning Big 12 all-conference member on its squad. Senior Sharane Campbell-Olds was tabbed Big 12 honorable mention as a junior, Big 12 All-Freshman team honors and was tabbed the Big 12 Sixth Man of the Year as a freshman (2011-12).
• The Sooners have won 10 Big 12 Championships - six regular seasons, four tournaments - under the direction of Sherri Coale.
SOONERS AND RANKED OPPONENTS
•The last time Oklahoma defeated a Top 10 ranked team was during the 2011-12 season when it took a 71-68 victory over then-10th ranked Texas Tech.
•The last time the Sooners defeated a Top 5 ranked team was during the 2008-09 season when they defeated then-fifth ranked Baylor (66-58) in the schools second contest of the season.
•Oklahoma has played three ranked opponents this season, holding an 1-2 record. The Sooners were unlucky against then No.9/10 Kentucky, and fell in overtime 92-88 in the second contest of the Paradise Jam Tournament held in the Virgin Islands over Thanksgiving. OU's other ranked non-conference opponent this season was Duke. Oklahoma fell in Durham 92-72. The Sooners opened league play with a 71-60 victory over then-21st ranked West Virginia.

ALOOK AT THE LAST FOUR GAMES
• Gioya Carter BREAKS OUT: Sophomore guard Gioya Carter was reinserted into the starting lineup against Yale, Dec. 30 and has shined. Over the four games, Carter has averaged 17 points (17 pts, 24 pts, 18 pts, 8pts), 6.5 rebounds (6 rbs, 8 rbs, 6 rbs, 5 rbs) and shot an impressive 52.1 percent (25-of-48) from the field and an 66.7 percent (6-of-9) from 3-point land and 70.6 from the charity stripe (12-of-17).
• Kaylon Williams ON FIRE: Kaylon Williams is shooting a blazing 67.6 percent from the field over the Sooners last four games, sinking 23-of-34. Along with scoring double-figures in three of the four games games and averaging 13.3 points, Williams averaged a team-best 83 boards - including a season-high 11 at Kansas. Her only downfall is the charity stripe, having sank just 7-for-15.

• Peyton Little FINDING HER GROOVE: Redshirt sophomore Peyton Little was also reinserted into the starting lineup against Yale and produced a career-night, scoring a career-high 18 points. She tied that performance against Kansas, once again scoring 18 points, including nine in the all-important second half. She has averaged 12.8 points over the last four games and hit 81.3 percent from the charity stripe (13-of-16).
• Gabbi Ortiz SEEING THE FLOOR: Since the holiday break, freshman point Gabbi Ortiz is averaging 4.0 assists per game. She started the stretch passing out eight against Yale, Dec. 30. Ortiz has also improved her free throw shooting. After starting the season sinking 1-of-9 from the charity stripe, she has since drained 9-fo-10 free throw attempts - including 6-of-6 against Kansas, Jan. 7.
FIRST
Sophomore Gioya Carter earned her first Big 12 accolade this week of Jan. 5 when she was tabbed the Phillips 66 Big 12 Player of the Week. Carter averaged a team-best 20.5 points and 7.0 rebounds in Oklahoma's wins over Yale and RV/21 West Virginia. After being reinserted back into the starting lineup following six games coming in off the bench, she shot 55.6 percent (15-of-27) from the floor and 72.7 percent (8-of-11) from the charity stripe. In leauge games, she is averaging a team-best 17.0 points.
NINE
Oklahoma has nine players averaging double-figure minutes, of which four are averaging more than 20-plus minutes per game. Freshman Gabbi Ortiz leads the Sooners at 30.7 minutes a game - the only OU player to crack the 30-plus minute mark. Of the final five players who aren't in double-digit minutes, three are close: T'ona Edwards is at 9.6, Vionise Pierre-Louis is at 9.5, and Maddie Manning is averaging 9.0.
SEVENTEENTH
In the most recent NCAA statistics and rankings, Oklahoma is ranked 17th in the nation in average home attendance. The Sooners are currently averaging 5,021 fans per home game thus far, including a season-best 5,400 fans at their Big 12 opening win over RV/21 West Virginia. Two other Big 12 schools are in the Top 20; Iowa State (6th; 8,716) and Baylor (10th; 5,736). The next home game for OU is Wednesday, Jan. 14 when it hosts fourth-ranked Texas at 7 p.m.

Oklahoma redshirt junior Kaylon Williams played a career-high 34 minutes in the Sooners 69-57 win over Kansas, Jan. 7. The forward, prone to foul trouble in her career, has played in 30-plus minutes one other time; 31 in a contest against Missouri, Jan. 28, 2012. Her previous high this season was 29 against Washington, Nov. 14. Not only did Williams play a career-high, she also recorded her second double-double of the season with 14 points and a season-high 11 boards.

NINTY PERCENT
Oklahoma is struggling at the free throw line this season, but has been improving steadily. The Sooners sank a season-best 90.0 percent (9-of-10) from the charity stripe against Yale, Dec. 30 and had their fourth-best shooting outing against Texas Tech. OU hit 70.8 percent in its win over the Lady Raiders, sinking 17-of-24. For the season, Oklahoma is hitting just 63.2 percent from the free throw line (61.3 at home in the Lloyd Noble Center) and 68.1 in league play. In Big 12, OU has gotten to the line 69 times, compared to the opponents 51.

PREVIEWING TEXAS
Texas enters into its game with Oklahoma holding a near perfect record of 13-1. The fourth-ranked Longhorns won their first 13 games of the season before falling at Iowa State in their last contest, Jan. 10. Texas is 2-1 in Big 12 play, with wins coming against Kansas (60-46) and West Virginia (61-55). The Longhorns are led by Nneka Enemkpali and Kelsey Lang, averaging 12.9 points and 11.6 points, respectively. Enemkpali is also leading the squad in rebounds per game, bringing down 10.4. Texas was picked as the preseason favorite for the third time in conference history. The Longhorns were also picked at the top of the preseason rankings in 2003-04 and 2004-05. They won the regular season in 2002-03 and shared the title in 2003-04 with Kansas State.
What the Longhorns returned: The Longhorns returned 10 letterwinners, including four starters, from a squad that went 23-12 overall and 11-7 in the Big 12 a year ago. After tying for third in the league, Texas went on to reach its sixth NCAA Tournament in seven years. Texas also boasts the Big 12 Preseason Freshman of the Year Ariel Atkins.
OKLAHOMA-TEXAS SERIES
Texas leads the all-time series with Oklahoma 25-22 and won two of the three meetings a season ago. The Longhorns defeated the Sooners 79-74 in overtime in Austin, Texas and earned the 82-72 win over OU in the first round of the Big 12 Tournament. Oklahoma did grab the exciting 64-63 win in Norman with Morgan Hook sinking the two crucial free throws with four ticks remaining.
