NORMAN - It only took one weekend of competition for Oklahoma to become No. 1 again.

The Sooner gymnastics team posted the best score in the nation on opening weekend to earn the nation's No. 1 ranking this week. No team could best OU's mark of 197.625, giving the squad its first week at No. 1 in 2014. The Sooners also posted the nation's top team scores last weekend on beam (49.400) and floor exercise (49.425).

LSU took the No. 2 spot nationally (197.125) and Florida rounded out the top three (196.925). Utah picked up the No. 4 ranking overall (196.900) and Michigan slotted in at fifth (196.600). Oklahoma is set to face three of the nation's current top-five during the 2015 regular season.

In addition to its number one rankings on beam and floor, OU added a No. 2 national ranking on vault (49.450) and took the No. 3 spot on bars (49.350).

Ten Oklahoma team members earned 17 individual national rankings this weekend as well, highlighted by a pair of top-two national rankings from standout junior Haley Scaman. Scaman picked up the No. 1 ranking overall on floor exercise (9.95) and tied for second nationally on vault (9.95) and 23rd on uneven bars (9.85).

Joining Scaman in the vault rankings was true freshman Ali Jackson, who tied for No. 6 in the country with her 9.925 effort last weekend. Jackson also shone on floor exercise, tying for No. 2 nationally on the event (9.925) this week. Maile'ana Kanewa appeared at 10th on vault after a 9.9 performance last weekend and Hunter Price rounded things out with a tie at 24th (9.85).

Sophomore McKenzie Wofford picked up a strong opening effort on uneven bars as her 9.925 routine last weekend earned her a tie for No. 4 nationally on the event this weekend. Senior Erica Brewer slotted in at a tie for 10th overall (9.875) on bars and Scaman joined Keeley Kmieciak and Brenna Dowell in a tie for No. 23 (9.85)

Chayse Capps had an attention-grabbing sophomore debut on balance beam, tying for No. 2 on the event with a 9.925. Brewer and classmate Rebecca Clark were hot on Capps' heels, coming in at a tie for fifth (9.9). Kara Lovan also made an appearance in the beam top-25 in a tie for 13th (9.875).

Brewer and Lovan rounded out the rankings for OU, joining Scaman and Jackson in the top-25 nationally on floor. Brewer picked up a tie for 12th after her lead-off routine of 9.875 last weekend and Lovan tied for 24th in the country with a 9.85 last weekend.
