For head coach K.J. Kindler's 2014 NCAA Championship gymnastics team, achievement in the gym is important--but it's only part of the equation.
For the eighth consecutive year, Oklahoma had at least five gymnasts named to the National Association of Collegiate Gymnastics Coaches (NACGC) Scholastic All-America listing. Graduate student Kayla (Nowak) Dalton and departed seniors Lara Albright and Madison Mooring joined current team members Maile'ana Kanewa and Chayse Capps as honorees.
Under Kindler's leadership, Oklahoma gymnasts have earned a total of 48 academic awards from the NACGC.
Dalton's honor is the fourth of her career, while Albright finishes as a three-time honoree. Mooring, Kanewa and Capps all earned the first honors of their academic careers.
The NACGC Scholastic All-America award is granted only to gymnasts who attain a GPA (cumulative or yearly) of 3.5 or better.
SoonerSports.com caught up with four of OU's Scholastic All-Americans to ask them what academic resource at OU was or has been most valuable to them during their career. See a few of their answers below!
