Oklahoma vs. Oklahoma State
Postgame Quotes

Head Coach Patty Gasso

On the senior class:
“They get to cherish the idea of being one team that has gone to three consecutive World Series, played in two national championship finals and I know they wouldn't want to settle for anything less than a return trip back. They're not trying too hard, which is nice, because sometimes on Senior Day you want to go out being phenomenal and I think they just settled in and every senior did something significant to help us win. Whether it's Brittany [Williams] and her hard hits, or Destinee [Martinez] in the first pitch of the game found herself on. Javen [Henson] made a really outstanding play, up the middle early in the game so, it was just fuel for the rest of their teammates who want to play well for them on senior day. I don't think it gets better than having a sellout crowd as you play Oklahoma State at home on senior day. You get awarded the Bedlam Bell as well as the Big 12 Championship and now our fate waits in the hands of humans who are going to decide what we're doing next. I'm very pleased with a fitting ending to a great season thus far.”

On if the team is worthy of being a top-eight seed in the postseason:
“I do. I think, not just from the body of work, but also from the reputation of what we do in the postseason. I think the defending national champion deserves a little love. Whether they think that way or not, I don't know. I think we're going to fall somewhere [No.] 7, 8, 9 or 10. Hopefully we can get into that [No.] 8 spot, it fits pretty nicely. Also, regionals are very tough and just being able to play them at home, that's all we care about and we'll take them one game at a time. You can't go any further unless you get through that. I don't think we're worried by any means. This is a good road team so if we have to go somewhere, we'll be prepared. We're just ready to keep playing.”

On Lauren Chamberlain's status:
“I think tomorrow we're going to get an MRI. It's just a very swollen knee and we're just hoping that it's not going to be something that holds her out the rest of the way. I'll have a lot more to tell you tomorrow.”

On playing without Chamberlain:
“I think this team is not afraid of it [playing without Lauren Chamberlain]. If you were to take Keilani Ricketts out of your line up last year, you would go, 'Oh no,' but these guys have done it long and hard. They're saying to Lauren, 'We're going to buy you time; we're going to keep ourselves afloat and in a good place.'  Brittany Williams doesn't get enough credit for the job she's done, coming from the outfield to first base and doing a really nice job of making plays. Everybody's elevated their play. Whatever comes our way, we're going to be ready and we're going to give everything we have.”

Senior Brittany Williams

On her performance:
“It felt good. I was just taking my hacks today and trying to make adjustments from yesterday.”

On the improvement of the team:
“It took a lot of hard work, but it's totally worth it. Seeing us grow is an awesome feeling.”

On her home run:
“I was just seeing the ball well, being aggressive and taking my hacks.”

Junior Georgia Casey

On the win:
“It's a pretty good feeling. Even though we won Big 12 yesterday, we didn't want to celebrate until we won today because that was our goal this weekend, to get the sweep and go into the postseason with a good record.”

On today's performance:
“I think we worked really well on all levels. Our defense was good, our hitting was clutch and the seniors got the win today.”

On tonight's selection show:
“I think we're all just waiting to see what number we come out as, and it's going to be exciting this year.”

On deserving a to be in the top-eight:
“I think so, especially with how much we improved as the season has gone along. I think that has to come into it, as well, the fact that we've gotten better each game.”

On scoring three runs in the first inning:
“Any time we come out like that, it's awesome for our pitchers and gives them a little breathing room. It's just really good momentum and holds the other team down a little bit. “

On playing without Lauren Chamberlain:
“I think we're used to doing it without her for a while so whatever anyone throws at us, we got it.”
