NORMAN, Okla.—No. 5 Oklahoma earned its 18th win Sunday with a 6-1 victory over No. 39 Tulsa Sunday afternoon at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center in Tulsa, Okla.
“We played a very complete match today,” head coach John Roddick said. “It was the most complete match we've played one through six all year. We talked about that this week, so it was really nice to see it in a match.”
The Sooners collected six singles points.
Freshman Andrew Harris finished first, beating Dylan McCloskey in straight sets 6-1, 6-2. Guillermo Alcorta followed suit, putting Oklahoma up 2-1, with a 6-3, 6-4 victory over Clifford Marsland.
Playing in the No. 6 spot, Alex Ghilea fought to win a lengthy second set tiebreaker to beat Carlos Bautista 6-2, 7-6(7-3).
Axel Alvarez sealed the Sooner win, topping Japie De Klerk 6-3, 6-4, in the No. 1 position.
Austin Siegel and Dane Webb also won their matches Sunday. Webb dispatched Alejandro Espejo 6-4 and 6-4 and Siegel finished Or Ram-Harel 6-3, 3-6, 6-0.
