NORMAN, Okla. -- University of Oklahoma men's gymnast
Presten Ellsworth was named the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Gymnast of the Week, the conference announced Tuesday.
Ellsworth, a senior co-captain for the Sooners, scored a season high on floor (15.300), a career high 15.000 on still rings, and identical 14.750 marks on vault and parallel bars last Saturday against No. 5 Stanford.
Behind Ellsworth's performance, Oklahoma defeated the Cardinal with a 447.700 team score, the highest mark of any program in the nation this season and the second-highest in NCAA history.
An All-American on vault and last year's MPSF Gymnast of the Year, Ellsworth has helped OU to a No. 1 ranking all five weeks of the 2014 regular season as the Sooners have remained undefeated with a record of 8-0. OU next competes at the Metroplex Challenge in Fort Worth, Texas, on Friday, Feb. 14, where the Sooners will take on Stanford and club teams from Arizona State, Texas and Texas A&M.
