NORMAN, Okla. -- Led by 18 points from junior Nicole Kornet and 16 points from redshirt sophomore Peyton Little, the Oklahoma women's basketball team defeated Southeastern Oklahoma State 106-59 in its first and final exhibition game at the Lloyd Noble Center Wednesday night.

“I am really proud of our guys' effort,” stated Oklahoma head coach Sherri Coale. “I thought everybody who played competed and played really hard. They did some really good things. There is plenty to work on but we did some really good things so I am pleased.”

It was Kornet who allowed OU to shrug off the Savage Storm in the opening half.

After the visiting Great American Conference squad took the 10-9 edge at the 13:16 mark, Kornet came off the bench to hit a long-range jumper to give the Sooners the lead, one it would not relinquish. Oklahoma ended the half outscoring Southeastern Oklahoma State 35-16.

Little, a transfer from Texas A&M who sat out last season due to NCAA transfer rules, led all scorers in the opening 20 minutes with 12 points, sinking 4-of-10 from the floor and all three free throw attempts to help the Sooners roll to a 46-26 halftime advantage.

Kornet gave the Sooners their then-largest lead in the second half with hot shooting from beyond the arc. The junior sank back-to-back-to-back 3-pointers to the crowd's delight. The score sat at 76-47 after the shooting barrage. She ended the game sinking 7-of-12 from the field and 4-of-8 3-pointers for her game-leading 18 points.

“It's always good to hit a few shots,” stated Kornet after the 47-point victory. “I think we were really excited to get back on the floor.”

Also ending the contest in double-figure points were junior Kaylon Williams (15 points), senior Sharane Campbell-Olds (12 points), sophomore Gioya Carter (12) and freshman LaNesia Williams (11 points).

Freshman point guard Gabbi Ortiz led all players in rebounds, corralling 10. She also had three points, three assists, one block and an assist.

All 13 players saw action for the Sooners, with all but one scoring at least one point.

OU's starting lineup featured Ortiz, Little, Campbell-Olds, Williams and Carter.

The Savage Storm was led by Emily Williams with 16 points.

The Sooners now focus their attention on their regular season opener Friday, Nov. 14. OU welcomes PAC-12 member Washington to the Lloyd Noble Center for the 7 p.m. tip.
