OU Wins Open Eight at Head of the Hooch

NORMAN – After a day full of cancelled races on Saturday due to high winds, the OU rowing team made the most of the final day of competition at the Head of the Hooch in Chattanooga, Tennessee on Sunday.

The Sooners entered five crews into the women's open eight race and the squad turned in a great showing, taking two of the top three spots with first and third finishes in the deep 32 boat field.

The Oklahoma A boat had a dominating performance with a time of 16:05.7, crossing the finish line over 16 seconds before the second place boat from Clemson. The OU B boat placed third with a time of 16:23.1, just 1.1 seconds from giving the Sooners both of the top two spots.

OU's C and D boats managed top 20 finishes as well, placing 19th and 20th respectively. The C boat turned in a time of 17:59.9 with the D boat just behind with a mark of 18:03.1. Oklahoma's E boat, the fifth and final crew for the program, turned in a time of 19:36.0 for 27th place.
