Postgame Notes
Oklahoma vs. Southeastern Louisiana
Nov. 16, 2014

• No. 19/19 Oklahoma used a school-record-setting 3-point shooting performance from junior guard Buddy Hield to notch a season-opening 78-53 home win over Southeastern Louisiana. Hield made all seven of his 3-point attempts, shattering the previous record for most makes without a miss (six) that was shared by five players (Michael Neal, Michael Johnson, Nate Erdmann, Terry Evans and Tyrone Jones). Hield added seven rebounds and two assists in his 28 minutes.

• Hield's 7-for-7 performance from long distance also tied a Big 12 record (Texas Tech's Dusty Hannahs went 7 for 7 last year at West Virginia).

• Hield's seven treys were the most by a Sooner since Steven Pledger made seven at Iowa State on Jan. 29, 2011, in an overtime win.

• OU scored the game's first 16 points. The Lions didn't score until 12:43 remained in the first half. They made their first field goal with 11:46 to go. SLU didn't make its first 3-pointer until 16:51 remained in the game (it finished 3 for 20; .150).

• After holding NCAA Division II opponents Washburn and Southwestern Oklahoma State to combined .273 field goal shooting, the Sooners limited the Lions to a .328 mark Sunday. OU committed 10 turnovers while forcing 20 and posted a 17-7 advantage in points off turnovers.

• Juniors Isaiah Cousins (14 points, 10 rebounds) and Ryan Spangler (11 points, 11 boards) each posted double-doubles. It was the second career double-double for Cousins, while Spangler ranked second in the Big 12 last year with 10.

• Sophomore guard Jordan Woodard scored seven points and registered game highs of seven assists and four steals. Woodard, who set an OU freshman record last year with 146 free throw makes, went 5 for 7 at the stripe Sunday.

• Approximately 17 hours after finding out he was granted a waiver request by the NCAA to play this season, University of Houston transfer TaShawn Thomas won the opening tip for OU. Thomas registered four points and three rebounds in 23 minutes. As a junior last season, he averaged 15.4 points and 8.1 rebounds for the Cougars.

• Oklahoma improved to 28-2 in its last 30 season-opening games. It has now won 22 straight home openers and 35 of its last 36.

• The Sooners will play their first road game of the season when they travel to Omaha, Neb., to face Creighton on Wednesday at 7 p.m. CT at the 18,320-seat Century Link Center. The game will be televised by FOX Sports 1 (Kevin Kugler and Bill Raftery will announce).
