NORMAN – University of Oklahoma women's basketball head coach Sherri Coale announced the signing of prep star Ijeoma Odimgbe to a national letter of intent. Odimgbe, who will join the Sooners for the 2015-16 campaign, is a 6-4 forward from Johnson High School in Savannah, Georgia.

Odimgbe, who goes by EJ, is considered one of the best in the nation at her position and is currently ranked 19th at forward by ESPN HoopGurlz.

"EJ is an explosive athlete who is a terrific shot blocker and a relentless rebounder," stated Coale. "She is an outstanding young lady and we are honored to welcome her to our family."

As a junior in 2013-14, Odimgbe led the Johnson High squad to the deepest playoff run in school history, reaching the Class AAA Elite Eight. In the game that secured the Atom Smashers a spot in the Georgia State Championship playoffs for only the third time in school history and the first since 1979, Odimgbe had a dominating performance with 15 points, 13 blocks and five rebounds.

Odimgbe ended her junior season averaging 12.4 points, 8.3 rebounds and 5.1 blocks per game. She registered double-digit points 21 times, double-figure rebounds on 13 occasions and double-figure blocks twice, along with 10 double-doubles and one triple-double.

The impressive triple-double came in a tough five-point setback to rival Beach High. Odimgbe poured in 22 points, grabbed 12 rebounds and blocked 11 shots.

Odimgbe is also a stellar volleyball player. She currently leads the Atom Smashers with 162 kills, 71 service aces, 34 blocks and a 54.2 kill percentage.
