Sooners Set Graduation Success Rate Record

NORMAN – The NCAA released Graduation Success Rate (GSR) results for member institutions Tuesday. The University of Oklahoma registered an 80-percent graduation rate for student-athletes, the highest mark ever recorded by the Sooners since the NCAA began tracking this data.
Oklahoma has seen an uptick in its GSR each of the past four years. Today's report from the NCAA reflects a four-year average beginning with the freshman class who enrolled in 2007-08.
The GSR for 82.7 percent (15 of 17) of Oklahoma's intercollegiate athletics programs either increased or remained the same compared to last year. For NCAA reporting purposes in regards to GSR, cross country, indoor and outdoor track are considered one program apiece for men and women.
Seven Oklahoma programs registered a 100 percent GSR for the reporting period: women's basketball, women's gymnastics, volleyball, men's tennis, women's tennis, men's golf and rowing. Women's basketball has produced a perfect GSR each of the past two years.
University of Oklahoma student-athletes set an all-time record with a 3.06 cumulative grade point average (GPA) across all 21 sports during the fall 2013 semester (with cross country, indoor and outdoor track considered separate programs for men and women).
Including the spring 2014 semester, OU student-athletes have registered a cumulative GPA over 3.00 for five consecutive semesters. That cumulative GPA reflects the overall academic performance of those student-athletes from their first semester of their collegiate enrollment through the completion of the spring 2014 term.
