The Sooners remain on the road this weekend for a nationally televised match-up with the Iowa State Cyclones.

NORMAN, Okla. – Oklahoma volleyball takes its unbeaten Big 12 record on the road to face Iowa State on Sunday at 1:30 pm. The match will be broadcast nationally from Hilton Coliseum on ESPNU.

The Sooners have started league play 3-0 and have improve to 12-4 overall. In the three conference matches, redshirt-sophomore outside hitter Madison Ward has been dominating the OU attack with a 4.33 kills per set average and .414 attack rate. On the season, she is averaging 2.85 and hitting .240. Junior outside hitter Kierra Holst is first on the team in kills per set at 3.25 to go with a .256 hitting percentage. Collectively, the Sooners are hitting .268 on the season, while holding opponents to .201. Junior setter Julia Doyle is averaging 10.33 assists per set and is third at 2.13 digs per set. Junior libero Taylor Migliazzo leads the OU defense with 3.39 digs per set, while sophomore middle blocker leads the Sooners at the net with 0.90 blocks per set.

1st Rotation – Scouting the Cyclones

Iowa State has dropped three of its first four Big 12 matches and has fallen to 8-6 overall. The Cyclones', who are 0-4 against ranked opponents,  lone league win came at the expense of West Virginia at home last Saturday. Outside hitter Ciara Capezio leads ISU at 3.13 kills per set to go with 2.08 digs per set. Middle blocker Alexis Conway is hitting a team-high .33 and averaging 2.13 kills per set to go with 1.26 blocks per set. Caitlin Nolan has stepped into the starting libero role as a junior and is averaging league-leading 5.27 digs per set. In league matches, opponents are hitting .263 against the Cyclones.

2nd Rotation – Last Time They Met

Oklahoma lost its third straight match in a straight-sets defeat at No. 25 Iowa State on November 9, 2013. The Cyclones cruise in the first as they outhit the Sooners, .481-.086 in a 25-14 win. ISU claimed the match by narrowly winning the final two sets; 25-22 and 26-24. Mackenzie Bigbee led all players with 13 kills and hit .370 for Iowa State. Sallie McLaurin led OU with nine kills and four blocks.

3rd Rotation – All-Time vs. ISU

Prior to its road loss at Iowa State, Oklahoma snapped a four-match losing streak to the Cyclones with a 3-2 home win (10/5/13). The Sooners remain in the lead of the all-time series, 44-29, and are 22-10 in Norman. The series started in 1976 with a 2-0 Sooner win that started the longest winning streak in series history; six matches.

4th Rotation – Last Time Out

Oklahoma remained undefeated in Big 12 play with a 3-1 win over West Virginia, Wednesday evening. The first two sets went to OU by scores of 25-17 and 25-12 before WVU forced a fourth set by winning the third, 25-20. The Sooners finished off the match with a 25-15 win in the fourth by hitting .500 in the set. Oklahoma hit better than .350 in all three sets won and jut .051 in the third. For the match, the Sooners outhit the Mountaineers, .308-.067.

5th Rotation – Double Take

Three Oklahoma players have combined for 11 double-doubles this season. Ward leads the way with five. She has totaled six in her career, while Doyle is the team's active career leader at 17. She has posted four this season after registering eight as a freshman and five as a sophomore.

6th Rotation – Know Your Back Row

Migliazzo anchors the Sooner defense as she returns to the libero role for a second season. She leads the team in digs per set at 3.39 and has added 33 assists on the year. A consistent rotation of sophomore Lauren English and freshman Emma Kelly, who has started three matches at libero, have joined Migliazzo. Kelly averages 1.43 digs per set and English has contributed five service aces. Senior Kaitlyn Drawe has also mixed in with 34 sets played and 1.18 digs per set. Since the start of Big 12 play, sophomore Abbie Higgins has joined the fray with a 0.73 digs per set average in 22 sets played.

The Sooners return home next Wednesday, Octboer 15 when Texas Tech visits McCasland Field House at 7:00 pm. Sooner Sports TV will broadcast the game on FSOK and FOX College Sports-Central.
