Head Coach Lon Kruger
Opening comment:
“Start to finish, it was really a hard fought game. I thought Tech played really hard. I thought our guys played really hard. Maybe for 40 minutes, (it was) as consistently solid basketball we (have) played all year. I think it took that to beat a Tech club that has been playing with a lot of confidence. Tubby (Smith) has done a terrific job with the group, and our guys respected that coming in and knew how tough it was going to be. For our guys to respond as they did, I am proud of them and happy for them, and we just have to keep getting better in the Big 12 like that. A really good win on the road today over a good team.”
On the team's response after Texas Tech cut the lead to four:
“I think they challenged us the entire second half. They were right there, coming back and cut it to four a couple of times. It seemed like Buddy (Hield) jumped up and knocked a big shot -- maybe a couple of times that happened. Buddy wants to take that shot, which is not for everyone, and good to see him knock that down. I thought Jordan (Woodard) had a really good game from start to finish and really controlled some things that he needs to at the point guard spot. Cam (Clark) bounced back and had a good ball game. Ryan (Spangler) doing what he always does. A lot of guys played well, and it took that.”
On having three road wins in conference already:
“This group is growing. I told them in the locker room afterwards that I thought the progress we've made since the TCU game is the biggest step we've taken and understanding what it takes to compete every night in the Big 12. We're still learning. We're still growing. But we've done a good job finishing ball games.”
Freshman Guard Jordan Woodard
On what changed for him today after a couple of games in which he struggled:
“Just the confidence that the coaching staff has been giving me. They wanted me to have more control from the point guard spot over the game, especially on the road. I just wanted to be there for my teammates and play well for my teammates and put us in a position to win.”
