NORMAN, Okla. -- Sooners Axel Alvarez and Nick Papac claimed the Baylor Invitational doubles title Sunday in Waco, Texas.

Alvarez and Papac defeated Baylor brothers Hunter and Yates Johnson 8-2 en route to winning the doubles draw.

After reaching the semifinals in the singles draw, Alvarez fell to BU's Patrick Pradella in straight sets, 7-6 (1), 6-4.

Along with the Baylor Invitational, three other Sooners competed in the USTA Napa Challenger over the weekend but fell short of competing in the third round. 

After defeating Sean Kolar in the first round, freshman Vasile Ghilea was eliminated by Dimitar Kutrovsky, 6-4,6-2 in the second round.

OU junior Dane Webb swept Erik Elliott, 6-3,6-4, before falling short to Jesse Witten in the second round, 3-6, 7-6(2), 6-1.

Freshman Andrew Harris had a first round bye, and was beaten by Thanasi Kokkinakis, 5-7, 6-3, 6-2 in Harris' first match of the tournament.

Up next, the Sooners head to Tulsa for the All-American Championships, Sept. 28.
