Former Sooner Russell Raley (2003-2006) returns for his fourth season at Oklahoma as a volunteer coach for the 2011 season.

The Uvalde, Texas, native coaches first base and works with the infielders and outfielders and assists with the Sooner hitters.

While he led OU to three NCAA tournaments, including the program's first Super Regional in 2006, Raley helped the Sooners make the program's 10th College World Series appearance as a coach in 2010. OU's last appearance in Omaha came in 1995.

"We are thrilled to have a quality person like Russell on our coaching staff here at the University of Oklahoma," said head coach Sunny Golloway. "With his outstanding background and experience in both the collegiate and professional ranks, I feel Russell has a lot to offer our program and the players.

The Sooner coach recently completed his second successful stint as the head coach of the Mat-Su Miners of the Alaska Baseball League last summer.  Raley's squad won the ABL Championship for the second straight year as he was again named the league's coach of the year.

Raley, a four-year starter and three-time All-Big 12 honoree at second base, completed his eligibility at Oklahoma in 2006 and later graduated in May of 2007.
