NORMAN, Okla. -- Sooner fans, show how much you love college hoops on Saturday, Feb. 4, when OU hosts a doubleheader of basketball, and get a chance to receive limited-edition collectible hats designed by coaches Lon Kruger and Sherri Coale.

I Love College Hoops presents an action-packed day that begins at noon when Coach Coale's Sooners seek revenge on Oklahoma State in the second round of Bedlam. Coach Kruger's squad then takes the court against Iowa State at 5 p.m.

The first 1,000 fans through the doors for each game (separate tickets required) will receive the hats designed by Coale and Kruger. A select number will also be signed by the respective coach. The hats were produced by Top of the World, an international headwear licensee based in Norman.

Coach Coale's Hat
Coach Coale designed her hat to commemorate OU's three Final Four appearances. The hat pays tribute to the first in 2002.

"Our Final Four appearances in 2002, 2009 and 2010 are key points in our program's history. We discussed multiple ideas for the hat when we were at Top of the World but ultimately decided to give our fans a commemorative piece of our history with a 2002 Final Four hat. The back of the hat includes an internal slogan our team used that year as well. The style and fit is something we think everyone will wear - including myself." - Sherri Coale

Coach Kruger's Hat
Coach Kruger focused on students when designing his hat, using a retro-style look with a three-quarter mesh panel and snap-back.

"Since we stepped on campus, students have been a main focus of ours. We know the students are the cornerstone of the atmosphere in our arena and they are getting more involved each game. We wanted to create a hat that was wearable by all, but something that students would really love. We added some key words that our players use each day to stay focused to make the hat significant to this year's team." - Lon Kruger

Participating Norman and Oklahoma City OU retailers will be offering an in-store promotion in conjunction with I Love College Hoops. Fans who visit these stores and say the code phrase -- "I Love OU Hoops" -- will be eligible to receive a special discount or giveaway. Discounts vary by retailer. Participating stores will be designated by a special I Love OU Hoops sign in their windows.

I Love College Hoops is a national program supported by the Collegiate Licensing Company to help promote college basketball. More than 80 universities are participating in this year's program.
