View media reaction the day following the end of the 2011 NFL Draft. Four Sooners were selected: Murray, Carter, Nelson and Beal.
Oklahoma finished with four players selected in the 2011 NFL Draft bringing its overall total to an even 350 since the event began in 1936. A total of 52 players have been drafted under Coach Stoops since 1999. Congratulations to all our pro Sooners.
BRONCOS DRAFT BEAL
The Denver Broncos returned for their second Sooner in the 2011 Draft, selecting Oklahoma's Jeremy Beal in the seventh round with pick No. 247. Beal is the 350th Sooner drafted all-time and 52nd picked under Coach Stoops. Beal is also the 15th Oklahoma DE selected all-time and seventh Sooner ever picked by the Broncos.
NELSON GOES TO RAMS
The St. Louis Rams selected Oklahoma's Jonathan Nelson in the seventh round of the 2011 NFL Draft with pick No. 229. Nelson is the 349th Sooner drafted all-time and 51st picked under Coach Stoops. Nelson is also the 46th Oklahoma DB selected all-time and 26th Sooner ever picked by the Rams.

Q DRAFTED BY DENVER
The Denver Broncos selected Oklahoma DB Quinton Carter in the fourth round of the 2011 NFL Draft with pick No. 108. Carter is the 348th Sooner drafted all-time and 50th picked under Coach Stoops. Carter is also the 45th Oklahoma DB selected all-time and sixth Sooner ever picked by the Broncos.
NFL Pick Analysis: "The Broncos' safeties are long in the tooth, so it was necessary for the team to grab Carter with this selection. He gives them a big, physical safety with good ball skills and instincts. He will team with Rahim Moore to give the Broncos a dynamic young safety tandem for the future."
Carter interview and video from the Broncos: "Carter said he doesn't know whether he will fit in at free safety or strong safety, but he played both in college and is just excited to hit the field as a professional. "I'm really excited to be part of the team, and wherever they put me I'm very grateful for my opportunity," he said. "I'm ready to go to work being part of the Denver Broncos."

DALLAS WELCOMES DEMARCO
New Cowboy DeMarco Murray
sat down for a teleconference with members of the Dallas media after his selection in the third round. Fans can also listen to the call between Dallas owner Jerry Jones and Murray as he learns he's being drafted by Dallas. If you missed the draft on TV, here's the clip from the NFL Network.
Oklahoma's DeMarco Murray was picked by the Dallas Cowboys in the third round of the NFL Draft. Murray was the first Sooner selected in the 2011 draft, 347th all-time OU player drafted, 49th player drafted in the Stoops' era, 40th running back drafted from OU all-time and 10th Sooner picked all-time by the Cowboys.

Here is the story from Dallas: "On Thursday night, Jerry Jones hinted that running back could be a potential draft target, hinting that the Cowboys wanted to add special teams value to the position." Read more from DallasCowboys.com
NFL Pick Analysis: "Jason Garrett adds another explosive weapon to the backfield with the selection of Murray. He is an ideal change-of-pace back with the speed and quickness to score from anywhere on the field. He will have to fight for carries in a crowded backfield, but expect him to make an immediate contribution as a receiving back in the Cowboys' nickel package."
The NFL Draft returns to primetime in 2011, with the first round taking place Thurs., April 28, followed by the second and third rounds on Fri., April 29. Rounds 4-7 will be held Sat., April 30.
Since the first NFL draft in 1936, 347 Sooners have been selected. Oklahoma's 347 all-time picks rank OU first in the Big 12 and fourth overall nationally. Forty-two Sooners have been selected in the first round (including a program-record four in 2010).
Oklahoma continued several notable streaks in the 2010 NFL Draft. At least one Sooner has been selected in 48 consecutive drafts (1963-2010) and 42-straight times in the first seven rounds (1969-2010). For 13-straight years (1998-2010), a Sooner has been selected in the first three rounds.
With Sam Bradford No. 1, Gerald McCoy No. 3 and Trent Williams No. 4 in the 2010 Draft, Oklahoma became the first school ever to supply three of the first four picks (three schools had three of the first five: Notre Dame in 1946, Michigan State in 1967, USC in 1977). The four first-round picks were a program record for the Sooners.
