NORMAN, Okla. -- Oklahoma left-handed pitcher Dillon Overton was named Big 12 Pitcher of the Week, his second honor this season, the conference announced today.

Overton, out of Weatherford, Okla., went eight innings with eight strikeouts for the Sooners, earning the win over Baylor last Saturday. The junior walked just two and gave up only one earned run to improve to 7-2 on the year, the most wins of any pitcher in the Big 12. Overton also is second in the league behind teammate Jonathan Gray averaging 8.13 strikeouts per game, helping OU maintain its place atop the Big 12 standings at 8-4 on the year.

Overton joined Baylor's Cal Towey (Player of the Week) and Jordan Piche of Kansas (Newcomer of the Week) as the Big 12 baseball weekly award recipients for games played April 8-14.

The Sooners take on Arkansas-Little Rock Tuesday, April 15, in a doubleheader beginning at 3 p.m. CT at L. Dale Mitchell Park. Game one will be televised live on FS Southwest and game two will air on FCS Central. Both games will also be broadcast live on KREF 1400.
