NORMAN, Okla. -- The No. 10-ranked University of Oklahoma baseball team will face No. 19 Oklahoma State in a non-conference Bedlam Series battle on Tuesday at L. Dale Mitchell Park. The game is set for 6:30 p.m. CT and will be televised live on FOX College Sports and on the radio home of OU baseball, KREF 1400 AM.

The Sooners (25-5, 5-1 Big 12) won three games last week to extend their win streak to 13-straight games before falling to Kansas last Saturday. OU took the first two games against the Jayhawks by scores of 12-1 and 2-1 before Kansas prevailed in the third game, 10-8. With the wins, Oklahoma currently sits atop the Big 12 standings at 5-1, more than a game ahead of Oklahoma State and Baylor which both sit at 3-2 in conference play.

Oklahoma State is coming off of a 2-2 week last week after losing to Central Arkansas 11-3 and in the first game of a weekend series vs. Texas by an 8-5 count before pulling out the final two games of the series by scores of 8-3 and 5-4. The Cowboys are led by sophomore Zach Fish who is batting .333 with 10 doubles, a triple and five home runs to go with 27 RBI and six stolen bases on the season. Pitcher Vince Wheeland, a junior, is second in the country with six victories already this season, boasting a 6-0 record and 40.1 innings pitched, totaling 39 strikeouts to just nine walks and nine earned runs allowed, good for a 2.01 ERA.

Last season, OSU won three of the four games played between the two teams. OSU defeated the Sooners 6-1 in Stillwater before winning 3-0 a few weeks later in Tulsa. OU defeated OSU the next day in Oklahoma City, 8-4, before the Cowboys closed out the series in OKC with a 3-2 victory.

OBIE'S IN BEAST MODE
Junior infielder Matt Oberste is one of the hottest hitters in the country right now and rides a 30-game hitting streak into today. Oberste broke the OU program record with his 28th-straight game, hitting a home run in the first game of last week's series against Kansas to break the record set by Marty Neff (1991).

Oberste, who began the campaign by capturing back-to-back Big 12 Conference Player of the Week honors, entered Week 8 of the 2013 season ranked second in the country in hits and RBI, sixth in batting average and slugging percentage and 10th in home runs. He has tallied a team-high 15 multi-hit games in 2013.

ALL-AMERICAN ACES
OU sports a pair of 2013 preseason All-American aces in its weekend rotation in junior righty Jonathan Gray and junior southpaw Dillon Overton.

Overton is 6-1 with a 2.55 ERA and has fanned 45 against just nine walks over 49.1 innings. He was named Big 12 Pitcher of the Week after fanning seven over seven frames while surrendering just two hits to help power Oklahoma to a 10-4 victory over Hofstra on opening day.

Gray, who is 5-1 in 2013, leads the starting rotation with a 1.34 ERA with a team-high 63 strikeouts over a team-high 53.2 innings of work. He's fanned 44 batters over the last 34.0 innings while surrendering just two earned runs on 13 during that span.

Gray won his third Big 12 Pitcher of the Week honor on Monday, becoming the 13th pitcher to earn three or more Big 12 Pitcher of the Week honors in a single season and the first Sooner to do so. The junior from Chandler, Okla., tied a career high with 12 strikeouts, going all nine innings in a 12-1 win over Kansas in the series opener last Friday. Gray took a no-hitter into the seventh inning, ultimately allowing just two hits, one run and no walks to improve to 5-1 on the year.

Gray leads the Big 12 in innings pitched (53.2), opponent batting average (.152) and strikeouts (63) while also ranking fourth in ERA with a 1.34 mark.

NEWCOMERS MAKING AN IMPACT AT THE PLATE...
Junior infielder Hector Lorenzana is batting .271 with 32 hits -- including seven doubles and a home run -- to go along with 12 RBI. Lorenzana has started in every game for OU this year.

Freshman outfielder Craig Aikin has also started in every game for the Sooners and is hitting at a .295 clip, third-best on the team, with 36 hits and 11 RBI.

Freshman outfielder Hunter Haley is batting .286 with 24 hits and 14 RBI in 29 games played (25 starts).

Freshman infielder Kolbey Carpenter is hitting .275 with 28 hits -- including five doubles, two triples and a home run -- to go along with 13 RBI.

...AND ON THE MOUND
Newcomers making an impact can also be found on the mound in 2013. Redshirt freshman Adam Choplick is 3-0 with a 2.88 ERA and 24 strikeouts in 25.0 innings of work, including five starts.

Freshman Jacob Evans was named the Big 12 Conference's Newcomer of the Week after continuing to show the cool of a veteran out of the bullpen in OU's Big 12 Conference opening weekend series sweep of TCU. He nailed down his team-leading fourth save of the season with 1.2 scoreless frames of work Saturday, bailing the Sooners out of a one-out, bases-loaded jam in the eighth inning to preserve Oklahoma's 3-1 lead. On Sunday of the series, he tossed two scoreless frames.

Evans is currently 5-0 with four saves and a 0.62 ERA in 15 appearances. In 29.0 innings, Evans has 25 strikeouts while giving up just two earned runs and holding opponents to a .149 batting average.
