Now in her 19th season at the helm of the Sooners, Gasso's record stands at 900-281-2 at OU and 1060- 340-3 overall.
The top-ranked Sooners (28-2) used a four-run fourth inning to take command, while senior pitcher Keilani Ricketts and the OU defense retired the final 13 Wichita State (12-16) batters of the game.
Ricketts struck out nine, walked none and allowed just two hits as she saw her record improve to 15-1. A solo home run in the third inning was the only damage allowed by the senior lefty.
She did not allow a baserunner beyond the third inning, getting the Shockers out 1-2-3 in each of the final four frames.
Oklahoma got on the board in the second inning.
With senior Jessica Shults on first with one out, junior Brittany Williams reached on an infield single. Fellow junior Destinee Martinez then blooped a single past a shallow infield before sophomore Callie Parsons drew a five-pitch to plate Shults.
Wichita State tied the game at 1-1 in the third inning as Megan McCracken led off the frame with a solo home run to left field, her team-leading fourth of the season.
The Sooners broke the game open with a four-run fourth inning.
Ricketts led off with a single and was pinch run for by sophomore Erica Sampson. Williams followed with a double to the gap in right center to push Sampson to third.
With sophomore Javen Henson now running for Williams at second, Martinez batted and looked like she was going to be thrown out on a comebacker to the pitcher, but Katie Armagost's throwing error allowed Martinez to reach second, Henson to move to third and Sampson to score.
Parsons recorded the first multi-RBI game of her career when she singled back up the middle to drive home Henson. Two batters later, with Parsons on second after a stolen base, sophomore Lauren Chamberlain doubled off the wall in left field to bring home Martinez and Parsons.
Ricketts helped her own cause and added a couple insurance runs as she hit a long two-run home run to right center. It was her eighth of the year and 43rd of her career.
