NORMAN, Okla. – The University of Oklahoma women's tennis team won the doubles point and did not let up in a 7-0 sweep of No. 67 UC Santa Barbara Sunday, March 24, in Santa Barbara, Calif.

“Today was the most complete match we have played all year from start to finish.” OU head coach David Mullins said.

Oklahoma notched a victory at the No. 1 and No. 3 spots in doubles to seal the first team point for the Sooners.

In singles play, Oklahoma's only loss in a set came at the No. 4 position but Whitney Wofford won in the third set and claimed a 6-3, 3-6, 10-7 victory for OU.

Hermon Brhane and Whitney Ritchie cruised to victories at the No. 1 and No. 2 position, respectively. Brhane defeated April Scatliffe, 6-0, 6-1 while Ritchie topped Kiersten Meehan, 6-1, 6-1.

“It was encouraging to see this type of play away from home and I definitely believe we can build upon this performance going forward.” Mullins said.

Oklahoma returns home to face in-state rival Oklahoma State Friday, March 29, at 5 p.m.
