NORMAN, Okla. -- Former Oklahoma men's gymnasts Jacob Dalton and Steven Legendre advanced to the finals of the 2013 French International Saturday in La Roche sur Yon, France. Part of the International Gymnastics Federation's individual World Cup series, Dalton advanced to tomorrow's finals on floor and high bar, while Legendre advanced on vault.

Dalton and Legendre were part of a field of 12 athletes on each event, and the top four competitors on each apparatus advanced to the finals tomorrow. Dalton competed on floor, high bar and vault, while Legendre competed on vault and floor.

"It was a pretty impressive day for the U.S. contingent," OU head coach Mark Williams said. "There was some very good gymnastics here on just about every event. Jake hit everything, and I'm happy with the results since the field is so deep. Hopefully they'll get a few medals in the finals tomorrow."

Dalton, who competed at OU from 2010-12, posted the top score on floor with a 15.500, nearly 0.400 higher than the second-highest score of 15.166. Legendre finished 12th with a 14.066.

Legendre, a Sooner from 2008-11, posted a two-vault average of 13.999 and advanced with the fourth-highest score. Dalton's 13.932 was fifth, and he narrowly missed a spot in the finals. Olympic gold medalist Yang Hek Seon notched a 14.599, the top score on the event.

On high bar, Dalton finished third with a 14.533. Russia's Emin Garibov recorded the top qualifying score with a 15.366.

Dalton posted a 14.866 on rings and finished eighth.

Dannel Leyva and Alex Naddour were the other two Americans that competed at the international event. Leyva advanced to the finals on high bar, while Naddour failed to advance on pommel horse, his only event.

Competition resumes Sunday with the finals of the French International.
