NORMAN, Okla. -- Brie Olson, Madison Mooring and Haley Scaman swept the Big 12 women's gymnastics weekly awards the conference announced Tuesday.
Olson was named Gymnast of the Week while Mooring earned Specialist of the Week and Scaman was named Newcomer of the Week after OU's first-place finish at the West Virginia quad meet on Friday.
Olson picked up her fourth career weekly honor while Mooring nabbed her second specialist award of the season. This is the second newcomer honor and third overall recognition for Scaman.
A native of St. Cloud, Minn., Olson had one of the best meets of her All-American career, setting a career best on the all-around and posting one of the top 10 scores in the nation this year with a score of 39.575. The 2012 Big 12 all-around champion also set a career best with a 9.925 on floor and a 9.9 on beam, helping OU to a season-high score of 197.375 and a victory at Big 12 opponent West Virginia.
Mooring tied for the beam title with a season high 9.925 at West Virginia, helping the No. 1 ranked beam team earn a 49.475, the top team beam score of any squad in the country this year. The junior added a 9.8 vault score, helping OU to a 49.300 in that event, tops among all teams at the WVU quad.
Scaman capped off the night in the anchor position on floor for OU with a 9.95, the top score of the meet. The freshman continues to improve her scores week to week and is the highest ranked freshman in the country on floor.
OU now has won 14 of 15 Big 12 weekly awards in five weeks this season.
