Third Open Practice Moved to Sunday

November 12, 2013 | Women's Gymnastics

The Oklahoma women's gymnastics team has moved its third open practice of the fall to Sunday, Nov. 17 from 1 p.m. - 5 p.m. The date and time change is due to the 11 a.m. kickoff time for the OU vs. Iowa State football game in Norman on Saturday.

As with previous open practices, the event will be free and open to the public. OU's practice will be held at the Sam Viersen Gymnastics Center in Norman. The Viersen Center is located north of the Lloyd Noble Center by the intersection of S. Jenkins Ave. and Imhoff Ave.

Athletes will be available following practice to sign autographs and visit with all fans in attendance. Fans will have the opportunity to watch 12 members from last season's squad - including four NCAA All-Americans - as well as meet the five talented newcomers that are joining the Sooners this year.

Sunday's open practice will be the last of this fall before the team's annual intrasquad meet on Saturday, Dec. 7 from 4 p.m. - 6 p.m. The Sooners open their 2014 season at home in the Lloyd Noble Center on Friday, Jan. 10 against Georgia.

The OU women's gymnastics team is fresh off a 2013 campaign that saw the Sooners earn a national runner-up finish at the NCAA Championships and the program's 11th conference title. The NCAA performance marked Oklahoma's third top-three finish since 2010.
