Oklahoma head coach Sherri Coale celebrated her 48th birthday Saturday, Jan. 19. Many of her former players returned as it was also an Alumni Appreciation Game. The Sooners returned to the win column with a 69-56 victory over the Longhorns. Oklahoma has not lost consecutive games in January since the 2004-05 season. Oklahoma swept the regular-season series with Texas for the fifth time since the formation of the Big 12 Conference. The win over Texas was OU's sixth in the last seven meetings in Norman, Okla. Texas trailed Oklahoma by 1 twice in the game, but the Sooners never surrendered the lead after starting the game 6-0 and holding the Longhorns to one field goal through the first 10 minutes. Tara Dunn and Eden Williams, OU volleyball players who joined the injury-depleted team for the spring semester, made their second appearance in a game. The duo also played in their first game with the women's basketball team on Dec. 29 versus Cal State Northridge.
