Sharane Campbell scored 19 points to lead the Sooners, who shot a season-low 32 percent from the field.
Oklahoma (14-3, 3-1 Big 12) closed an 18-point Iowa State (13-2, 3-1) lead to 10 with 6 ½ minutes to play before the game's second pair of double fouls was called and senior Joanna McFarland, who had three double-doubles in her past four games, was disqualified.
McFarland was held to three points and six rebounds.
Hallie Christofferson scored 24 to lead the Cyclones. Nikki Moody had 20 points and 13 assists and Nicole Blaskowsky added 17.
Aaryn Ellenberg scored 16 for the Sooners.
The Sooners trailed 34-28 at halftime.
Oklahoma returns home Saturday to face Texas at 2 p.m. CT at the Lloyd Noble Center. The Sooners have won two straight over Texas and four of the last five. The game will be televised on FS Oklahoma and Fox College Sports Atlantic.
